ll-pro Rams left tackle Orlando Pace is done for the season with a serious shoulder injury.
Rams coach Scott Linehan confirmed that bad news Monday afternoon during his news conference. Pace suffered a torn labrum and rotator cuff during Sunday’s 27-13 loss to the Carolina Panthers.
"I feel real bad, obviously, for Orlando," Linehan said. "He worked very, very hard to come back from his triceps injury a year ago."
The injury will cause the Rams to scramble, since back-up tackle Todd Steussie is sidelined for at least half this season with a broken foot. Adam Goldberg jumped into the fray Sunday, but the Rams will consider several options to move on without Pace.
The Rams currently don’t have another tackle on their roster or practice squad. Milford Brown, who started for Richie Incognito Tuesday, can could play right tackle with Alex Barron moving to the left side in Pace’s place.
Linehan will consider other options, including veteran Kenyatta Walker – who, the Panthers let go before the season.
"We'll have to pick up the pieces for him," Linehan said. "Come Sunday, we'll have our best five out there. We'll be working on a couple of different scenarios."
