Does this Scandrick Character get another shot with the team next year?

I personally cannot stand the guy. he gets our guys hurt, He doesnt man up and accept his mistakes and above all he shows nothing on the field. What does that guy bring to the table?

Waste of roster space if you ask me... get rid of him along with the rest of dead weight.

I don't see why not. He's cheap. He's a decent nickel corner. I don't see the problem. If anything we should get another corner in here to compete with Newman and more importantly Jenkins. I'm amazed at the backlash Scandrick has gotten by fans. He's been bad but Jenkins has been just as bad and actually committs penalties but no one seems have a problem with him.

Jenkins has made a bunch of penalties but at least it looks like he's trying and he still makes plays. I could almost swear every single pass thrown at Scandy gets caught. That said, yeah he should get another year.

Scandrick is useless. He's a liability in pass coverage, and he does nothing on special teams. He's not a good nickelback; the dude has serious problems covering in the slot. We need to upgrade the CB position in the draft badly.

I think the Cowboys will draft a corner in the next draft and move Newman to the slot, if this rookie can start. I think Dallas will draft the corner from either Nebraska or LSU. I'm hoping Peterson because he is big and fast. He also is gifted in returns. Scandrick did not improve from last year.

After his rookie year he has not played very well. He seems to have all the tools and is always around the ball but makes too many mental mistakes and never looks for the ball. His problems seem to be mental. Maybe a new coach could help. So i would keep him.

Lol, what?

If nothing else, Jenkins has earned some slack with his play last year; you know at least he can play and he hasn't been nearly as bad as some have tried to make out to be this season.

If you watched some of the film studies with Ron Jaworski, he explains pretty clearly that some of those deep passes that Jenkins looked like he gave up actually were do to poor safety play.

Scandrick hasn't done jack in this league. I'm still waiting for him to make his first play of any significance (in pass coverage) in the NFL after three seasons.

Steve Smith hopes so!! Scandrick may put him in the HOF... single handedly.

this is how clueless are fanbase is... Newman is having a great year. He has been stingy on pass defense and has been a warrior through injuries. Jenkins granted he got his butt burnt in Tennesee and committed some penalties, but everyone wants an aggressive defense and he is being aggressive. Aggressive = penalties. I dont understand how you can call scandrick a decent nickel corner? Everytime he is on the field he gives up a first down or a touchdown. My wife even sighs when they put him in and she only watches cowboy games.

personally I think it would be better for newman just to cover the slot like he did when bill parcells was here. If the slot is the hardest to play why not let newman do it. He is still fast and knows his assignements. Newman is a good veteran corner. But i guess our dump coaching staff can't see that scandrick gets eating alive playing the slot. Just like jenkins probably would if he had to play the slot. We should just switch newman and scandrick spots because I think scandrick is better playing the outside.

All players with talent AND work ethic to practice should be kept on under new coaching leadership. The new coaching staff must be one that prioritzes preparation and technique-details in practice. That's why a player like Orlando Skandrick should be kept on and players like Leonard Davis should be let go. Davis has the talent but not the work ethic to get the most out of it. Young players like Skandrick deserve a fresh start out of coaches they will respond to when pushed to achieve their best. It's that simple.

I would allow him to be coached by a decent secondary coach before I cut him. I think 75% of the problem with our secondary is the coaching.

If there's someone better to replace him, then fine. If not, he stays. Simple as that.

Why wouldnt he? He's under contract. What would be the harm in letting him compete for a spot? Its not like he's got 3 or 4 guys behind him that are all as good or better.

I agree that I'd like to see how different coaching would work with him. He often seems to have good position, but doesn't know what to do when the ball comes.

No. His ego is greater than his talent.

I don't see any way he gets another year, unless we draft Patrick Peterson and he's relegated to the 4th CB role.
