Am I the only person that thinks scandrick needs to step it up? hes been gettin abused the last 2 years.

I think he's inconsistant, which is why he never had a shot at the starting job.

Yeah he's our 3rd CB, dude - try to stay realistic. He's gonna get his *** kicked by Santana Moss when Moss lines up in the slot.

I think he allowed a couple of conversions on Sunday, but when I looked at them his coverage was really solid, they just had very good passes that were on the money. That's the thing about coverage, perfect offensive execution beats even the best coverage most of the time.

All in all, I think Scandrick is doing well.

No you are not.

I have been saying it for a while. He isn't that good. I remember people arguing that Scandrick would beat out Mike Jenkins.

He plays almost solely the slot. The slot is the toughest position to play. Getting beat on underneath passes from the slot is just going to happen more than any other position, so it just seems he gets beat more often than others.

Some people still don't understand that the nickel CB has the hardest job on a team that plays primarily man D. I think he's been very good ever since the 2nd half of last season.

Did you guys see Kyle Wilson (who I think is a very very good CB and will be in the probowl some day) getting used in the slot. The WRs can go both ways. It's very difficult to cover them.

steve smith rips him every time we play the giants

Steve Smith (Gnats) caught 100+ balls last year and made a trip to the Pro Bowl. He rips a lot of nickle CB. He is the ideal slot receiver. Quick in and out of breaks, runs crips routes, generally adds a little mis-direction at the top of his route and the QB can trust he will be where he needs to be. He also has good hands and plays big in big games. Given all the above, and aided by a two-way go, Smith is a handful for any nickle/slot CB.

Of course the slot is the hardest position for a CB to play.

But Scandrick is very inconsistent and has a tendency to beat often after he lets up a big chunk of yardage.

Newman can play slot as well but you don't see him getting beat like Scandrick. Of course its Terrence Newman but you understand the difference in skill.

He got burned by Moss who burns all of our corners ONE TIME and he needs to step it up. He's fine. The corners are fine.

Scandrick started a little slow last season, but got better and better as the year went on. As for this year, we just have one game to judge by, and I don't think Scandrick got abused. He gave up some passes, as did all of our CB's, and he didn't really make any truly notable plays, but then again neither did Newman.

I think he can play better than he has, it was a big play on his part that did stop the skins from making a 1st down late in the game when the skins could have put it away

I don't understand why Newman doesn't play slot on 3rd downs like he has in the past. He was really effective at it a couple of seasons ago.

We simply cannot allow this to happen again. There has to be an adjustment. Let Jenkins or Newman shadow Smith especially on 3rd downs when Eli is looking for him. Take your chances with Scandrick on Manningham.

As for Scandrick - he is OK. Could be better but that's why he's 3rd on the depth chart.

Uh....you don't see Newman getting beat in the slot because he doesn't play the slot.

He has before.

Are you saying he has never played in the slot?
