Interesting, according to xwalker , Orton's contract restructure saved bare minimum (he is usually spot on) but Cowboys were able to sign Durant due to Orton's restructure. It would be interesting to see the Durant's contract and Orton's restructured contract.

Vickers: Cut now Save 1.2M

Livings: Cut now Lose 0.4M, Restructure save 1M

Free: Cut Now Save 2.825M, Cut after June 1st Save 7M

Orton: Restructure = Minimal savings

Orton's restructure would save about $500 if they gave him min salary and converted the rest to bonus.

Remember that if we were adding a 1m salary for Durant, the net hit to the cap would only be about $600k because you are dropping a bottom salary guy off the 51 that count towards the cap.

Beat me to it.

This sounds like the deal was aided by the rule of 51.

They freed up $383k on the restructure giving them a total of $485k under the cap before the signing.

Per espn, bleacher and others:

The Orton and Armstrong moves freed up roughly $1 million of space for the Cowboys, who were $102,005 under the cap at the beginning of the day. Durant received a two-year deal, and Allen received a one-year deal.

The Cowboys now have less than $25,000 in salary-cap space after the signings.

wikipedia is fast

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Armstrong_(American_football)

Dallas Cowboys
After working out with the Dallas Cowboys on November 21, 2012, the team signed Armstrong on November 26.[9] He was released on December 22.[10] On Jan.7th, 2013 Armstrong signed a one-year, $630,000 contract. He was released on March 27, 2013

Well, when you have no other work anymore, you have time to update your wikipedia page on your own.

I wouldn't be surprised if they told Anthony that it was only until they had more cap room, but of course he can sign on with someone else if he desires.

I really hope we didn't lose out on any bargain free agents that we wanted because Anthony Armstrong was counting 630K against the cap until March 27th

Steeler nation seems upset, so that's a good sign. Not that familiar with him.
