Osa Odighizuwa vs Jalen Carter

Overall I would agree with this, but not the bolded part. OSA is the main cog in the middle of our defense, and the double team metrics support this. Carter is a much more well rounded player than OSA and I'm not trying to suggest otherwise, but this is exactly why its so frustrating if we go into another season with Mazi Smith starting next to him. Philly has done such a nice job in recent years of creating depth at the DT position. The Cowboys so far have failed to get OSA a partner who can take advantage of teams paying attention to him.
Pimp, do you know the % of snaps Osa is double teamed?

:lmao:
Is Dak really healthy?
Can Booker hold up vs the best DTs in the league?
Did the run defense improve?
Can this team perform under the bright lights?
Is Shotty a good game manager?

I agree, it's just one game, but we can take away something, at least for one game. If Booker plays a good game my confidence in him would go up tremendously.
It’s a great building block game to gauge where you are after preseason. Also gonna be nice to see how they play after seeing Philly put their banner up

This is interesting. Are we missing something? There is no way we were seeing the same dominance from Osa. Then again, maybe we are, but it's lost behind other defensive issues.

Yeah, Eagles called wanting to trade Carter for Osa straight up and Jerry hung up on them

LOL

First game of the season is extended preseason…means nothing.
Agree but if you’re Dallas, and in this particular case, don’t you try to gain any advantage you can by maybe at the very least allowing the starting OL a couple of series together?

These division games are important if they have designs on getting anywhere.

Osa is a much better player than he gets credit for. I was a little skeptical of a 20 million per year contract, but when looking at other DTs he's paid outside of the top 10 so I think it's more than a fair value. Though Osa hasn't quite emerged as an elite DT, I think he's a very good player that can ascend higher if paired with the right dt next to him.
Fans always think other players are great and ours bad. Osa was a must sign. He’s a very impactful player. He’s not the big run stuffer but that’s not his job. I side pressure is his job. I think our pass rush could be even better this year. We got killer speed options on the edge and DT’s who can pressure the pocket. Run defense is gonna come down to the LB’s reading and reacting. If they can’t get all take a step out run D might get to avg

Even though I fully understand that they will overpay for their own before attempting to put in the effort for a possible upgrade….plus when Jerry gets to be friendly with players he wants to pay them…..I still can’t believe they gave him that kind of money.

At least they didn’t get hosed on structure like some other recent deals. They can get out of this after two years if need be.

He isn’t awful, but he is way overpaid, and they put themselves in the spot of not being able to get even worse at DT by losing him because they don’t value the position….so they end up overpaying anyway. Not good at this.

Until the delusional duo get DT reconciled in their own heads, it’ll just be more of the same.

Carter is arguably the best DT in the game and Osa is overpaid. No he isn’t downright awful, but TWENTY million a year?

Rather have two 10m type DTs than him….and I fully knew between that contract and the first rounder for Mazi, they would consider the position fixed. We already know that’s not enough.

Better hope him finally showing up later last year was more about the light finally going on than chasing the bag.
He’s worth the 20m because that’s a little less than going rate for a good veteran DT.

It doesn’t seem right, but with the cap the way it is, it makes sense.

perfect example of why stats lie; anyone thinking Osa is in the same class as Jalen Carter is a football fool
Milton Williams, who the eagles let walk, is a more dangerous pass rusher than Osa, and people are wanting to compare him to Carter?

Unreal.

like buying a small house surrounded by big ones; it costs more because of the neighborhood you are in
