Reminds me a Carlton Lee Haselrig with regards to the wrestling background.

OG Haselrig had a short (5 year NFL) career due to mental issues but if players were judged only on their best season, he would be in the HoF.

While in college Haselrig defeated future NCAA and Olympic champion Kurt Angle.

Haselrig was the 1985 Junior Greco-Roman World Champion, and the 1986 Junior Freestyle World Champion, while competing for the United States in the heavyweight division.

Kurt Angle
- Two-time National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Heavyweight Wrestling Champion.
- Gold medal in freestyle wrestling at the 1995 World Wrestling Championships.
- Won the Freestyle wrestling gold medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics with a broken neck.
- In 2006, he was named by USA Wrestling as the greatest shoot wrestler ever and one of the top 15 college wrestlers of all time.
- He was inducted into the International Sports Hall of Fame in 2016 for his amateur accomplishments.

My ex-wife went to college with Haselrig. Said he was a big teddy bear when he wasn't mauling dudes on a wrestling mat. Hard to believe he died last year at age 54.

Hopefully, Osa can transfer some of those skills to football as well as Haselrig.

My worry would be him getting too many reps and wearing down. All too often the Boys do not give the guys on the D line enough rest for them to stay effective the whole game and the whole season.

Yup. Relying on a rookie 3rd rounder to save the weak interior isnt fair

It's not the Cowboy's plan to be thin on the D-line and have to rely too much on one guy. They have a starter in Gallimore that is injured and Carlos Watkins that missed game time due to the covid protocol. I share your concern about too many reps wearing down whoever is left to step up, but they will have to make due until Gallimore and Watkins get back.

guy is looking real promising but he's listed as 280 lbs? he needs to be at least 300

as a former wrestler in hs, although that's nothing, i respect the hell outta wrestlers, you know they're gonna give it they're all. they have a mental toughness that is unmatched in any other sport

A friend of mine went to the same college at the same time.

My buddy was a bouncer at a bar near campus.

Haselrig came in and was causing a disturbance.

All 5 bouncers tried to "throw him out" but that failed.

My friend said he had Haselrig's right arm in a bear-hug. Said friend would come off the ground as Haselrig was punching other bouncers in the face. Friend was 6-2, 220 at the time.

Eventually Haselrig says "If you're just nice and ask me to leave I will".

Friend blurts out: "Mr. Haselrig Sir, would you please considering leaving at your earliest convenience, Sir?"

Haselrig: "OK"

Yes, it was sad to hear about his passing last year. He was a fascinating character with an interesting backstory.
