Osa on Defense changes

“Just based on some of the things we’re being asked to do right now, I was going back and watching some of the tape from last year and I’m like, ‘If I was doing the stuff we’re being coached to do now, I’m making this play, I’m making that play.’ Just seeing there are going to be a lot more opportunities based on the stuff he’s having us do.”
Coaching still matters in this league big time. Every day I am more and more disappointed in McCarthy and the staff. The more that comes out the worse it keeps sounding. This quote is just yet another example of McCarthy's failed time in Dallas.

Another reason to get more excited over this upcoming season. So much more than last season.
A lot going on this year, as opposed to nothing happening last year.

New coaching, and better DC, players acquired in FA and added from the draft. Players gone that needed to be gone.
New wrinkles and a true emphasis on the run game.

Not expecting miracles. But this is fun to watch a team grow to be competitive as back in the early 90's type growth but with a better overall core of players.
They still may be lucky to make the playoffs. But it is a much better start than last year at this time.

I'm assuming OSAs quote has more to do with just the free ability he will have of being a gap shooter type in an Eberflus defense. Thats not a better or worse thing than OSA did last year under Zimmer, just different. OSA was a bit of that gap shooter type when he entered the league and worked great at times, but teams also used that over aggressiveness against him as well, which we see among several positions when DQ was here.

McCarthy didn't run the defense, and Quinn was exceptional during his time here.

Osa plays hard but he's another fake leader. Our defensive stars(him, blame, diggs and micah) are the worst group of defensive leaders in the NFL

Yeah, shooting gaps or not I would like a little more production and explosiveness in the get off.

The quick twitch 3 under that he's supposed to be kinda shows up at the snap but to have all that past wrestling experience I want more consistent obvious one on one wins at the LOS.
Strangely enough he also seems off-balance a good bit either when put to the ground by the opponent or by his own making, its more often than I would have thought based on his same leverage skill knowledge of his prior wrestling history.

Don't get me wrong, his balance is not the catastrophe that Guyton is, its just something I picked up on that needs improvement.

McCarthy is looking super lazy compared to these coaches. May be all the things Rodgers said were true. Im excited that hes gone.

The team was stale. Even it it does turn out bad, it'll be fresh dog poop instead of rubbing in the old stuff. I'll take the change and hope for the best.
