Wasn't Burgess on defense? Or am I thinking of a different Burgess?

he was their DE last year, remember he sacked Vick 3 times in the playoffs? and then had 2 in the Super Bowl?

he was injury-riddled for most of his career in Philly, so many Eagle fans thought that it was a reason they wouldn't miss him, that and they never miss players who deflect :laugh2:

but damn, don't think they're saying that now...

Burgess' sacks were the only time the Iggles got any pressure on Brady in that game.

Yah-what was once thought of as a front-office first class in Philly turned out to be nothing but a FRAUD in the long haul. Supposedly, they play hardball on their players who want to get greedy-However, despite their so-called "high wall" stance, they all but sold out to TO the whole time.

Will they bounce back next year? Likely. However-no longer will they be successful while simultaneously having that comfy salary cap zone. With the rest of the NFC toughening up, they're gonna have to spend the $$$$$$$$$$$$ like the rest of us. Or else-they're gonna be an also-ran SF franchise.

I wish we would have signed him. He is a prototype OLB/DE tweener. He kept getting hurt mainly because he isn't a true DE. He's a smallish guy at 6'2" 260 for an every down DE. He can be exposed against the run which is why Philly let him walk but he is a very good pass rusher as we all saw last Super Bowl.

typical eagle move ----- they had/have plenty of cap room.... and, they let burgess move on. the eagles had/have gotten cocky about their own personnel prowess - they think they can replace good players with new cheap players. well, it doesn't work all the time.
they should have kept burgess - no doubt.

funny thing is how many people say jones is injury prone and he's had less injuries than burgess has.can't knock the eagles success. barring injury to mcnabb they would be in the race right now.

No one is suggesting that the Boys allow Jones to walk via free agency either.

Sometimes we end up arguing apples and oranges.

Burgess was injury-riddled early on, but he also played quite well on a big stage and was clearly getting more pressure than highly paid Jevon Kearse who also had some injuries in the past. Its the same reason I am leery of just cutting Jacob Rogers. I'd rather see him moved for a pittance or kept as a depth guy in hopes he finally puts it all together. A lot of guys make marked improvement in their first 3 seasons as they get bigger, stronger, faster.
