I know this is off topic and has nothing to do with anything...but I am working on some vids, am drunk, and now pissed off. I am watching the NFL Countdown on the day when Emmitt broke the record and am watching Parcells talk about how great Smith is and how every back should learn from him. They go to Steve Young who, to my shock, talks about how Emmitt killed them, only to have Berman state that if Dallas lost the game in '93 against the Giants, that Dallas would have "gone out to San Francisco as a wildcard and PROBABLY LOSE it...Johnson told him this (which I see as coach speak)

. I am sorry, but Dallas won there in the NFC Champ game the year before by a comfortable margin...they won at home in '93 going away. If you play that '93 game in SF, I still have the Cowboys winning by 10-20 points and that is just because they were the BETTER team in terms of talent and coaching. SF had no chance and they know it. They had to cheat the next year and lure some big time players to their camp just to get a 10 point win when they were spotted 21 points at the beginning of the game. This crap just makes me furious and I know it is old news, but I never rant...

Berman is a pioneer and part of the whole ESPN explosion. He was there day 1. Love or hate him he's been a big part of the sports transformation of this century. He is sports cable's pioneer.

I actually heard him on 14NVR AM radio in CT in late 70's as a part time taffic guy and part time sports talk guy before sports talk was the norm. He moved onto ESPN circa late 70's and hit a home run.

He's also one of the biggest sports team franchise homers on the air, often making Al Michaels' homerism of the Commanders look puny in comparison. If he were more impartial in his NFL reporting and observations, he would be the number one guy in the biz. He's not, so he ain't.

He's still a Bills and Niners homer and an annoying awesome person.

No he's a big part of all that represents ESPN and the cable era. Some here might actually remember life without Cable.

Berman and the swami, his Sportscenter early years. He is a poineer. Like him or hate him - thats ya'll call

Let's see...

Emmitt Smith, already a Dallas Cowboy legend, breaks the all-time rushing record and what does Berman interject into the conversation of his career accomplishment?

Answer: Some nonsense concerning the 49ers.

Case closed.

I'd like Berman more if he would just loosen up and animate.

In all honesty I can't stand him, dude was doing the home run contest and constantly running his 'back back back back' bits...ugh!

BTW - Berman, you're balding, get over it! The combover look is hilarious at best, sad at worst....

Yep, LSU-Shreveport is one of the best hospitals in the region, so I know that you received pretty good care.

My hometown's a little further east of Shreveport, but that's the best I-20 sign in the Dallas area I could find. :D

What "tests" were you given while there? I lived in there for 14 years and the only time I smiled was when Shreveport was in my rear view mirror.

oh man, my first dent in the Parcells armor comes during this...before he coached the Cowboys. He just said "If I gotta coach a game, I'm taking somebody else"...holy **** tuna, that is just ignorant. I know that I will resent this tomorrow, come on here and go "oh ****, I just ruined a great thing with the zone while pounding Guinness and Shiner...this really sucks...new vids tomorrow.... :(

Was getting ready to leave the army...during exit exams they thought I had some disease/condition that almost only effects elderly people so they sent me to nuclear med at LSU.

So I got injected with some stuff and then about an hour later they took some fluids and checked it and everything turned out ok.
