I just want to take a lil time to remember the best that never got a chance to play in the league. I might get some argument from some Hank Gathers fans, but IMHO Len was the man. For those of u, who don't know the story, Len Bias was a 6'8 forward who played for the Univ. of Maryland. He was a monster think a shorter KG or quicker Lebron. Had inside and outside game. I can remember a quote from Coach K saying that he and Jordan were the only two truly unstoppable players in the ACC. He was drafted by the Boston Celtics #2 in 1986 NBA Draft. And was lined up as Bird's successor. We might have never seen a Bad Boys Back to Back Championship if he hadn't died. On this day 20 years ago, he pasted from cocaine overdose. Got the coke from a friend during a celebration for his being drafted, next day he was gone. If u don't know about the story take some time today and read a lil something on him. If u do, join me in payin ur respects. Len Bias was my anti-drug.

I know this has nothing to do with the Cowboys, but it was something important to me, and I know we have a lot guys younger than me on here that may have never even heard of him. Just wanted to get the story out there so maybe someone else can learn from it.

His death shook me a up a bit. He was the best college player I think I ever saw.

I remember it vividly. I was working at JC Penney and still in college. I heard it on the radio. I didn't know who he was, but I remember thinking about what a wasted life it was. I was working for less than $5 an hour and this kid had hit the jackpot. And he blew it and his life away in a stupid moment of indulgence.

If I remember correctly, he was not a "drug user" regularily. His friends and all stepped up and said it was a one-time thing. I don't know if I believe that or even if I've got the right person, but the same feeling sinks in. What a waste. What a shame.

If not for that fateful night, we may be asking who the next Len Bias is, not the next Michael Jordan.
