I hope everyone realizes that the time changes tonight at 2:00 am. Set your clocks to "fall back" an hour so you'll be on the same schedule as the games.

:)

Yeah. This night sucks. I'm at work tonight and instead of a 12 hour shift, I have a 13 hour shift. I'm so lucky.

:(

Our time doesn't change here in Hawaii, but since the games are scheduled based on times in time zones that do change, it still affects us. My pre-game shows will now start at 7 a.m. instead of 6 a.m.

This is a good thing because 6 a.m. was too early for beer:D j/k

One of the many perks of living in AZ.
I've come to the conclusion that the Cardinals are the only real drawback.

It's a job where I spend all my time on a computer. I'm a 911 dispatcher and it's not very busy at the moment. It's good that they don't care because while it's not busy, there's nothing to do. :)
What is the stress level like at your job? I was a fireman for 7 years and always wondered what you guys must go through until we get there sometimes.

Most intense call?

Honestly, it depends on the person. Me? I'm about as easy-going as is possible. Literally, the most worked up I get during the week is during a Cowboys game. I'm never really nervous or anxious at anytime until then.

That's not to say that the adrenaline doesn't ever get going. The most intense is working the police channel and a call coming in that's in progress and involves weapons. Your adrenaline is going as much as those actually responding to the call. Structure fires are the same way. It's just a flurry of activity and a lot to keep up with.

Calltake, the toughest are the medical calls. We give medical instructions over the phone and giving CPR over the phone or giving birth instructions over the phone is always a treat. The worst calls are seizure calls from parents of infants who've never had a seizure before. They're hysterical and you can't help but get worked up while talking to them.

We had a motorcycle officer that got thrown from his bike on a freeway here locally not that long ago. I wasn't here that day, but those that were said that the rest of they day they couldn't relax, eat, sleep, etc even once they were off duty. He turned out to be okay, but it caused him to miss work for a few months. He was messed up pretty bad.

Thing is, you'd be surprised how protective citizens are of police officers. The guy that hit him took off and we had at least two people following the guy all over creation. All those that called it in were extremely concerned and we had calls for days after asking how he was doing just from citizens. It made you feel good to work here.

That's the only incident where an officer was majorly injured since I've started here. Will have been doing this for 2 years come April. Still an adventure. :)

I love the fall time change. Get more sleep tonight, gets dark earlier.

I don't know why I like it when it gets dark earlier, but I do. It seems like I sleep easier in the winters.
