OTA Notes week 2

Lol at the Harris hype machine.

Even Schotty has said repeatedly that you can't tell anything about RBs until the pads go on.
whew..... its a good thing Schotty says so. I thought we were ready to pass out all pro awards for OTA work from RBs.

I didn’t say he was but it seems like some of you honestly believe he’s been way better than he’s been.
You must mean like the people who thought Phenom Trance and Deuce just needed an opportunity? No that is not me.

The Cowboys do not like TE's who can not block period. If you are a potential threat in the passing game, you will not be utilized until you can prove you can block.

Please tell me in the last 35 years when we have used 2 TE's at the same time. Keep in mind 1 playing, then getting hurt, does not count as using 2 at the same time.

Take a look at Schoon's results when he has started, when Ferguson was out do to injury.

Guyton seems like he understands the assignment. I really like the personal accountability he's taking going into year 2.

Keep pushing young man.

Lance is in LA with Harbaugh.

I’m a huge Lance fan. But he needed out of Dallas.

It is just the opposite. He hasn't been as bad as some have said. He isn't going to be a 60 or 70 catch per year TE and wasn't drafted to be. But that won't stop some from saying he was a bad pick.

I know it’s shorts and no contact but I have heard more good things today about Milton from a number of reporters then I have ever heard from Lance for two years. Interesting……
Joe Milton has played alot more football than Lance had and it always shows.

The one thing Purdy had done is play a ton of football and the mental acuity and comfortability showed itself early.

If Lance had played anywhere near the same amount as Purdy had, there's a damn good chance no team would have sold the farm to get him

So OTA”s don’t mean a thing?
The hell they don’t, they absolutely mean a lot.

They instill some basic philosophy of the offense and defense.
They get ideas on how the players grasp the schemes.
What condition they are in. So they can put together a TC plan.

They get the players prepared for TC, so they have an understanding of what to expect, so they can get right to work and start preparing.
Couldn't agree more.

I go to the range on a weekly basis and, while I am not and will never be a world class shooter, i'm reasonably good. However, it is a perishable skill. If I skip a month or two, it is noticeable at the range.

The same with football (or, any sport or activity). Skills can and do diminish quickly. If nothing else, OTA help "remind" the body of the subtle requirements of timing, hand/eye coordination, etc.

I just posted about how MM called out his work ethic last season. It was the main issue I was going to keep an eye on. It's good to see he's off to a good start. Some of these kids come into the NFL without knowing about being a professional football player, thinking they can step on the field and dominate the same as college. I am confident we will see an improved Guyton, but to what level?
