After reading a few recent threads regarding how well the defense played today, then reading newman and others express satisfaction with our secondary I started to wonder is this an early indication of anything? I know it is hard to judge for various different reasons, from it being the underwear olympics to the offense missing some of its receivers. However, if you had to guess, would you say that the defense is finally going to turn the corner and become an elite defense, ala the likes of pittsburgh, baltimore, and tennessee or is the offense just sputtering? I guess technically you can cop out and say it is a little bit of both. Maybe the offense is sputtering because of how great our defense is?
With all of that being said, which of the two is more critical for this teams success? Is it more important for this team to regain that 2007 form offensively or is it better for this team to take the next step and become an elite defense? Obviously we would all love to have an elite offense and defense but it doesn't seem like that ever happens now a days. At this point in time are you more confident in our offense or our defense? With the game on the line which unit would you rather have on the field? I would imagine being more confident in one side would lead most to believe that having the other side take that next step would be more effective for this teams success.
Once again I know it is way too early to get a good feel for all of this but let's play along anyways.
