OK, we took care of replacing our starting fullback with a trade, replaced our special teams/depth linebacker and replaced our depth receiver. What other moves should we expect Dallas to make in free agency?

Starting middle linebacker?

Third running back?

Starting guard/tackle?

Backup interior lineman?

Is this a joke?

Not sure why you think it's a joke. Dallas' philosophy the past few years has been to sign low-cost free agents to "fill" its needs.

It's following that same philosophy this year with the moves it has made so far. What has to be determined, though, is what the team sees as needs.

I think finding a fifth starting lineman is obviously one because Stephen Jones has said as much. That doesn't mean it's going to be a player like Fleming because he's going to get paid more than Dallas is willing to offer. It's probably going to be someone who could start but also could be relegated to a backup role if we draft an OL early.

The good thing is the team is in playoff contention near the end of the season. Meaningful week 16 & 17 games is our success. We could be Browns fans and be watching preseason games in November.

Apparently, we're building from the bottom up.

You were expecting more?

I'm not happy that our FA goal is just to maintain status quo, but that's what it is.

Sadly yes.

They weren't even high hopes as I've grown to know better. But I was hoping for maybe a Derrick Johnson Novarro Bowman linebacker signing and actually gaining someone on the offensive line rather than simply losing a starter.

But I guess even low expectations are too high nowadays.

:(

All of the above . . . will it happen? It'd be nice to say yes with certainty -- it sure would.

I would only hope and dare to expect that it'll come about after the draft. Let's make a wish!

This year, the Browns improved... Dallas didn't and hasn't so look into the mirror and watch the Cowboys morph into the new age Browns.

Sign Derrick Johnson, Martin, Fleming, Boston and roll into the draft

I dont mean to be snarky. But our free agent "philosophy" has landed us Nolan Carroll, Cedric Thornton, Stephen Paea, Robert Blanton. None of which remotely "filled" needs, much less became dependable starters. So the thought that we are getting any starters, or even good backups, at this point is dubious to me.

Your missing a key cog we retained!!! LP!!!!

The boys on the break and talking cowboys cant stop falling all over themselves to pump up that signing!

I don't know if Johnson or Bowman will make it here (and I seriously doubt it), but I guess the point of this thread is that Dallas usually replaces what it lost in free agency in some manner. Last year, it lost Carr so it replaced him with Carroll, who was a spot filler until the rookies it drafted were ready. It got Blanton as a vet because it lost Church.

We may get a Trey Hopkins or Dakota Dozier, but in some manner, the team will replace Cooper and then hope to relegate his replacement to the bench or even to waivers because of a draft pick.

We're not done because there are other players we've lost and need to replace, but it's obviously going to be more signings like the ones we've made. (And for all I know, the Thomas signing could be seen by the Cowboys as Hitchens' replacement instead of Wilber's.)
