I've heard more than one report on local DFW sports talk radio that the other players they liked within about 8 to 10 picks ahead of them was Dupree and Shaq.
It was pretty clear that Dupree would have been in their wheelhouse until the Steelers took him. They seem to have a habit of doing that recently, much like Shazier last year.
Yes, Dupree made sense. I was surprised to hear they would have taken Shaq in the 1st. I guess they really love LBs.
And Chip Kelly said after the draft the two players he coveted and considered moving up for after the Agholar pick were Byron Jones and Eric Rowe.
I heard it would be between Dupree and Jones, if Dupree kept dropping. The other players in consideration were Kendricks and McKinney - according to David Moore and the group at DallasCowboys.com... they claimed as the drinks got poured the lips got loose.
I was listening to Daniel Jermeiah's podcast from a few weeks ago. He worked for the Ravens in the past. He was saying how funny it was that teams like the Packers (he named a few other teams that I can't recall) who always drafted players that the Ravens liked, and likewise with the players the Ravens had drafted. Some of the Patriots draft have been hit and miss, but as a whole I think it is a good sign that we are tied to the players that teams like the Ravens like.
Ravens are just paying us back from taking Dez
It actually went better for us that we got Jones instead of Dupree since we landed Gregory in round 2.
YesDid they move up for Rowe in the 2nd?
Did they move up for Rowe in the 2nd?
MUCH MUCH MUCH better. IMO, Gregory is a lot better than people actually know. I think he was the best player in the draft and if he had played anywhere other than Nebraska, (and not had the issues at the combine) he probably would have went 1st overall. I definitely think he is better than both QBs taken #1 and #2.
The more I look at him, the more I'm seeing what a gold mine we got at #60.
I had penciled Carl Davis in with our 3rd round pick before the Ravens robbed us.
Then they snaked us again the next round, grabbing Buck Allen right before us.
