OU obviously has more talent... the UTEP faithful should be furious for that fake punt attempt...

Lack of patience...

OU run defense has been VERY shaky tonight...

Yeah well the HC feels like he has to do something since his kickers are about as accurate as the votes counted during a Presidential election.

3 missed FGs, stupid fake punt, their best player on the sideline with cramps (do they not have pickle juice in El Paso?), a WR who has dropped 2 or 3 passes that hit him in the hands, and two OU fumbles that have gone out of bounds

all this has led to a 17-7 OU lead

Not that deep in their own territory...

It is a shame, as you said, Jefferey started cramping up... he was a force tonight and OU had no answer for him...

Sooner fans better hope this was an off night on run defense or they will have a long season against some teams in the Big 12...

Jefferey thrashed them...

Did Oklahoma lose? The game I watched it had them winning. But seriously, it's the 1st game of the year and a new OL. No excuses but UTEP had ZERO to lose and pulled out all of the stops, like the coach said all week they would.

Watch out Oklahoma fans. Don't touch that dial!

Oh come on... did you watch the game? They were awful vs the run...

Why do you have to be so defensive? Jefferey ran as he pleased until he cramped up... Not sure where the OU OL figures in here...

Jeffery averaged 8.4 ypc (21/177) and didn't even play in the 4th quarter...

Please don't discount my posts with a yawn... this wasn't a yawner game for OU... had Jefferey stayed in they could have been in real trouble...

This game went down to the last 4 minutes... and Jefferey was out...

Did you see the game or look at the box score? UTEP will be a force in C-USA this year and OU had real issues stopping Jefferey...

Well I understand your excitement for your team and by all means be happy about this loss. UTEP will be a force but I personally would like to see a few more games from them before naming them the C-USA champs today. They threw every trick in the book tonight at Oklahoma. They won't be doing that in conf. You know it and I know it. They had ZERO to lose tonight like I said earlier.

Oklahoma had issues w/ the run tonight, for sure. Am I terrified? Nope! I know the program will get it addressed. Mike Stoops will fix that line and they have FL A&M next week to get it straightened out before KS on the 22nd.

BTW: Good for Jeffrey and his running tonight. It's to bad so many UTEP kids cramped up so badly in the 3rd. Maybe they should practice in the heat sometimes and leave the French's mustard at home.

UTEP isn't my team... not sure what you mean... talk to Silverbear about that... I was just watching a game...

I was trying to look at things objectively... you don't have to throw me a perceived bone... I don't follow the Miners...

Bob Stoops' greatest gift in life was Mike not succeeding in AZ... they work well together... not apart...

Mike has a lot of work to do in regards to the defense... they over-pursue, they are out of position and they take bad angles on tackling... and they can't tackle soundly at all...

I was actually impressed with the tackling technique that UTEP had. It wasn't an indictment on OU other than they were sloppy in wrapping up on the tackle. OU obviously has better athletes...

Bob and Mike should indefinably be co-HC's since they don't normally have the ultimate success unless they are both involved...

I have known you a LONG time from thecowboys.net days... were you just seminar replying to me or did you actually read my posts?

I have never advocated UTEP, nor do I care about them...

I stand by my earlier posts... discounting your yawn, that OU needs to get it together on run defense or they may have some trouble this year...

It doesn't constitute a "yawn"... a yawn was OU vs OSU last year... and yes... you deserved that shot after you took one at me without actually reading my post... ;)

Please don't drive-by disregard my posts in the future with some condescending "I root for a better school than you"... REALLY?

I NEVER ran OU in the ground as an institution... just because your team sucked tonight doesn't warrant blanket condescension from you...

Stoops is good for a couple of these stinkers a season.

But it was good seeing the Baylor fan come away disappointed.

Do OU players lift weights? They looked very small and skinny.

Yeah Oklahoma sucked last night. The win obviously proved that. No offense TB but you sound like a lot of Cowboys bashers on the board. If Dallas doesn't dominate a team in every phase of the game, they flat out suck and won't make it to the playoffs. Yes, that is how I took it, thus the yawn.

A win is a win but only if you dominate the opponent because they are an inferior school? Am I reading that correctly? Any given Sunday....we throw that all out the window?

It was obvious UTEP came to play and I am not taking anything from them from being very prepared. You think OU was up to play UTEP? I think they looked at it like any other game. UTEP on the other hand...well it was the biggest game they would have all year outside a championship game, so they were up and up big and threw everything at Oklahoma + the kitchen sink. I get that.

Bottom line, Oklahoma won. You just don't like how they won and that is a bit disjointing to read.

BTW:

That OU and OSU stuff doesn't get under my skin. I never live in the past nor try not to refer to it in debate. Today is today and last year was well....last year.

;)

UTEP should drink pickle juice huh? They couldn't keep a player on the field all night.

Odd

Disappointed? I think Ou played disappointing for certain, given their expectations, but that's about the only thing disappointing I can take away from last night's contest, strange assertion there to make...equally odd that someone's Baylor allegiance is relevant to the observation of the outcome.

Odd

My point was mainly that OU looked really bad on defensive fundamentals last night... everyone knew the offense would likely be a little down due to losing the receiving corp in the draft...

I was surprised at how fundamentally unsound they looked... Mike Stoops will eventually iron it out... but he better do it quick...

Oregon is on death penalty watch tonight... with extreme prejudice...
I wish someone would reign Oregon in, but that'll never happen so long as the NCAA's masters, a.k.a. Nike, are making the rules.

In college, yes, you do throw that out the window. If you cannot dominate an extremely inferior team, you really have little hope of being a national title contender.

It could possibly be a 1-game hiccup, but I sure won't be surprised to see them move down in the rankings.

Won't most teams that face OU throw everything they have plus the kitchen sink at the Sooners? This is typical. OU played poorly. It is something to monitor. Was this game merely a hiccup or symptomatic of something larger? I didn't see them as a national title contender coming into the season and so far that opinion still holds.
