OU ranked #1 in coaches poll

NEW YORK (AP) -- Oklahoma is the preseason No. 1 in the USA Today coaches' poll.

The Sooners received 42 of 59 first-place votes to easily outpoint No. 2 Alabama, which received 13 first-place votes. Oregon, which lost last season's BCS championship game, is third and LSU is fourth.

The Ducks and Tigers will open the season against each other at Cowboys Stadium on Sept. 3 in Arlington, Texas. They each received two first-place votes in the coaches' poll.

I do suspect OU will be tough though. But so will half of the SEC, Oregon and then a few other schools that start out rated too low pre-sesson and get screwed over.

I agree. I think the 1st 3 games in non conference should be played before any of the polls come out. However this is how it has always been and teams will deal with it.

Fact we are 24 made me feel good after last season’s crash. Texas just needs to go out and win ball games the polls will take care of themselves.

Yet to be determined. I do know McCoy looked very good in the inter squad scrimmage. Just have to see how it plays out

So eager for College Football to start. Really wanting to see how WVU's offense will go with the new HC/OC.

Love me some college football...They just need to get rid of the BCS Bull and get with a playoff system.

Any poll that has us (UGA) in the top 25 after losing both leading rushers and AJ Green I must question the validity of. Florida probably doesnt deserve to be in the poll, either.

OU will be good.

They have a really good QB in Jones with an experienced WR core. They will also most likely not lose a home game.


But will they win a National Title? I doubt it.

Vennables is still coordinating the defense there and they will lose focus on the road at some point. It's just what that school does.

Just because the system used for choosing a champion sucks doesnt mean the sport sucks. College football is the best sport on the planet. There is NOTHING like a saturday afternoon in the fall at a bigtime college football stadium.
