Is entering their 3rd year it's not looking good for them.

1st rd, Mazi Smith: been a huge disappointment

2nd rd, Luke Schoonmaker: will be 27 in September, looks to be another second round dud.

3rd rd, Demarvion Overshown: Looked like he was becoming a star player last season, but unfortunately he's had two major knee injuries in back to back years.

Picks 4-7: not even worth mentioning

I could swear about a year ago McClay said that class needed to step up in order for the team to have success.

Anyone else recall that? Did they? Not really.

But yeah last year was about the injuries.

Many have something to prove as they enter year 3. It looks like it will be a middle of the road class right now but who knows what can happens this year. Three starters if you include Overshown. Maybe another in Richards some day.

Mazi - showed signs of improvement as being completely mismanaged his rookie year by McCarthy. Hopefully the new staff will get him contributing more consistently.

Schoon - showed big signs of improvement last year and looked good in games he started

Overshown - All-Pro potential if healthy. Big if.

Richards - needed a couple of years to be a potential NFL starter. Hopefully he will be ready for a bigger role this year and I know the team views him as a potential starter.

Deuce - Another huge mismanagement by McCarthy. Maybe the new staff can figure out how to get him the ball.

Mazi gets blown off the ball way too often, especially for a guy whose strength was supposed to be his big attribute. He didn't look good under Quinn or Zimmer, I dont have much hope for him

Schoonmaker best game was 10 catches for 56 yards, the guy was damn near nonexistent for the season

The bar for Mazi is so low just putting his helmet on facing the right direction would be an improvement.

We have the luck of having people like Lee, and Overshown that had great football IQ. They even had great athletic ability. But their bodies just break.

Overshown was the star of the class. The make or break guy. A very good player and seemingly a very good guy. But he got a bad injury.

Mazi Smith has not lived up to his number 1 pick status. He has not even been good. This is the year he shows something for the Cowboys or he should be gone.

Shoonmaker could be an average tight end. But the team has a couple of other guys just as good if not a bit better. He needs to outperform those guys to be a big asset to the team.

The rest are down roster guys who can help occasionally but not impact starter types. Their time with the Cowboys should end sooner rather than later.

Three year rule, I'm looking forward to seeing what Mazi and Schoon do this year. Richards is a good backup which is what you hope for with a day three pick. Overshown looked outstanding before the injury, hope he can come back with the same burst.
