Our aging receivers

We all screamed for a receiver in the draft, because we knew our aging receivers were a liability. Jones and company felt that our young receivers were good enough and would step up.

This was obviously a huge mistake. Terry was out for the season, and without Owens we had nothing. Owens was good enough to carry us most of the season, but injuries to him and Glenn at the end killed us imo.

I havent got a bad thing to say about our two number one receivers because they gave it everything they had in this game. They just couldnt physically do it.

I love Jerry Jones, but this one is on him. Everyone in the league and every Dallas fan knew what Jerry refused to admit. We MUST bring in a young talented receiver, it should have been done last year...:banghead:

I think the WR can be gotten in trades or FA. I would rather see both of our first round picks address the secondary.

I agree 100%. We have to either draft or sign a FA at the WR position. We need a young, speedy WR to replace Glenn. I'd prefer Larry Fitzgerald, but I'm not a trade is doable.

True. Crayton showed flashes of being a solid #2 but I'm not sold on him yet. Hurd and Austin have yet to show consistency but they have shown potential.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Stanback has to offer but they also need to draft one somewhere in the first three rounds this April.

TO is the receiving group. It's that simple.

Crayton is usually a solid player, but he's not going to scare anyone.

Crayton was not the #2. He was always the #3 that was forced to fill in for the injured #2, Terry Glenn. Unfortunately he had to fill that role all season. In that respect he did a great job. He will be fine when he returns to full time #3 duty.

Ideally, we'd either add another No. 1 receiver this offseason or a young No. 2 (a quality No. 2 right now) who could become a No. 1 in the future. I'd rather not go into next season with Owens, Glenn and Crayton as our top three receivers again.

I don't think you can count on Glenn too much, even if he does want to come back.

For the most part this team is solid with big and strong players in a lot of positions. We definitly can/need to upgrade few positions. My personal opinion is that we need to inject some speed in various places overall i.e., WR, RB, & ILB.

How many straight off seasons have we said we have the same needs? And then we draft a LB or TE.

Agreed.

Crayton has been disappointing, even before last night's putrid performance. And I'm not sure Glenn has anything left, especially after the injury.

The Chargers made a real nice trade getting a young, talented receiver like Chris Chambers. Something like that would be good.

Ugh. You got that right.

I bet Glenn isn't back. Just a guess based on what we read about his injury.

We supposedly did want to draft Steve Smith last year, so they must know this is a need. Someone like him would be nice to work in.

Man, you just wonder what Stanback might add there. Too bad he couldn't have played a little more this year.

Yeah, I've got Stanback as the biggest question mark. If you thought he could take a huge step forward and Terry Glenn could be 80% of what he used to be, maybe it wouldn't be a big need. But who wants to take that chance?

You've got a star QB who is one of the best in the game. You get him weapons.

How has he been disappointing if he was expected to be a #3? What he did prove is that he was okay as a regular #2 but nothing more. Given the circumstances, he gets a pass.

I don't think he was disappointing. He's just not a No. 2 receiver right now -- and he wasn't meant to be going into the season.

I don't know if Jerry would have the guts to cut him, so it might be up to him whether he comes back. I'd just rather get another quality starter who would make Glenn a luxury. Then if he wants to come back, fine. He could play in three- or four-wide receiver formations, and he could even spell one of the starters here and there.

Chambers is 29, so he's not that young. But it sounds like there might be some guys available. A first- or second-round draft pick wouldn't be the worst thing, either.

How has Crayton been disappointing? He was forced to take over the roll as the 3rd receiving option behind TO and Witten and came up with 50 catches, 697 yards and 7 TDs. That is not bad at all for a guy that was supposed to be the #3 wide receiver and 4th receiving option. He played a poor playoff game, but he exceeded expectations in the regular season. At least my expectations. I didn't see him as a true #2. Just a good #3 receiver.

I don't know what other teams' No. 3 receivers make, but I'm not convinced he's worth the $14 million contract that Jerry signed him to last month.

I guess I'm also factoring in his hyperactive mouth and that rubs me (and opponents apparently) the wrong way.
