I was watching a talk show this morning and the analyst was dumbfounded(think it was Vick)on us being able to go back to a 4-3.
Anyone else here think we have the personnel for a 4-3 defense?
We mainly added big bodies that were needed in RMs scheme. I don't see our personnel as a fit for a 3-4 defense. I know we're supposed to use multiple fronts, but we have no business using a 3-4 front and Crawford has no business on that line. He has zero impact for someone who is making 8M.
To my point,
We need to fire Mike Nolan. He has no business running a defense. I don't understand how after 6 games there has been no indication or glimmer of hope that our defense will improve. I know we have players that don't belong on that field, but his entire approach has set us back from being a bad defense, to being a horrible one. I know some people have made statements missing the old regime, but I don't miss the old regime more than I support the current one.
I don't miss Dak, I miss Doomsday defense this franchise was known for through Landry and Jimmy's era. Since 95 our defense has not been assembled to a respectable one. We continue to not invest in the trenches fully. We'll find a solid pass rusher here and there, but can't fill the DT spot with viable options. We also have ignored what is required from a FS and not invest in one in the draft. Instead we use CBs and try to be cute in transitioning them into a safety. Take JJ Wilcox and now Reggie Robinson. This is a complete joke. We cut Clinton-Dix for the NY washout on Thompson. Woods has no business starting in our defense. Wilson is still young, but I hope he can be a good box safety.
Overall, this defense has been a quarter century joke. I don't see this current combination of coaches and players getting it done.
