Our Loss to the Lions

I've always told my friends that the loss to the Lions in 1991 was important to our SB run in the 90's. In that game our corners were exposed mightily and in the offseason Jerry went out and did something about it. The problem I have about this season is that I don't really see and area that needs overhauling. Some may say the OL but before yesterday we said that it was an area of strenght. One thing I would suggest would be that we play the best player no matter the contract or draft status. It's obvious that Felix Jones should be a 20 carries plus a game back and Barber should be used situationally. Also, RW11 should not be starting, it's obvious that Ogletre desevered a chance or Crayton but RW contract and trade kept him in the lineup not production. I'd just like to know what changes the Zoners would make for the 2010 season.

Really: Playmaking Saftey + Kicker + O-line depth = Dynasty, its that simple but we MUST do it in 2010.

I thought that our safety play this year was drastically improved over prior years but we did lack ints to go with our pass rush and is probably the safeties fault.

I hope they make Roy earn a spot at reciever. I don't care if it's the 4th spot. This is two years now.

This team could also be the 80's Cowboys good team, good passing QB never got over the hump. Everyone wants to threw out 91 I see this team like the Danny White Cowboys. You realize the bulk of the players yesterday where on the 2007 team that lost at home in the Divisional round

You know what? That did cross my mind but I quickly pushed it out, let's hope this is not the 80's Danny White's Cowboys but I can see where you're coming from.

Hope Scandrick is ready to play opposite Jenkins. (don't laugh, see Spencer)

If we keep Newman, hope can hold down the 3rd CB spot.

Begin to replace Flozell either through draft or FA.

I think we are okay at RT. Colombo should be recovered and Free may even be a better RT than he would be a LT. Let's face it, we played our best football with Free running 30 yards down field making blocks.

GET A REAL KICKER.

Prepare Crayton and Ogletree to compete for the number 2 WR spot. RW11 cannot be trusted and will be better off as a situational WR, in spite of his hefty tag.

I am still contemplating the idea of signing the best Center that is available for the single purpose of calling the blocks. I just think Gurode lacks there and I think a smarter player could help us excel. Some of the best Centers in NFL history go that way due to their ability to think, not so much size or strength (Does anyone remember how big our Center was on the 1990 SuperBowl teams?). If Gurode can still roadgrate (like he did in college), then he should be fine at LG and Kosier is a solid backup.

So basically, draft or sign the best kicker and sign the best FA Center available and draft the best LT available. That can be done with two draft picks and one FA signing.

Not a whole lot to fix. Just a few adjustments here and there.

Tell me about it. It was finally a strength.

They didn't blitz alot so it wasn't many line calls to make, they just beat us 1 on 1. Can't blame Gurode for that.

On Suisham, it's not the physical ability but the mental ability to make a kick is what they lose. That being said Suisham was cut for a reason, he couldn't make pressure kicks. I think he missed a 20 something yarder that would have beaten NO when he was at Washington, why on earth would make us want to pick this guy up. I said the same thing about Vanderjath(sp), the last big kick he attempted (against Pitt in the playoffs) he missed, you don't want a kicker with the yips.
