How's this sound at #18 or maybe after a trade down. I've watched him play a few times... After the combines expect him to be evaluated as a pick between 13-22.

Now that Texas QB Vince Young has decided to turn pro, look for teammate ORT Justin Blaylock to follow suit, which could really frustrate a school that has prided itself on holding on to its players. A talented player, Blaylock could be a late first-rounder.

I like McNeill better if his back checks out and I also like Scott alot too if we stay put at 18.

I hope though that we trade out of the 1st into the top of the 2nd and pick up the best OG or OT available. Then use the extra 3rd we pick up by trading down and go bpa at each spot.

2nd OG or OT
2nd FS or ILB
3rd FS or ILB

In my opinion, we need to address the o-line in free agency.

I expect the Cowboys to contend for a Super Bowl.

Despite the fact that so many people bash Bledsoe - they seem to forget that the first half of the season when the o-line were doing their jobs, he was one of the highest rated passers in the league and we had a pretty potent offense.

And there are not that many QBs in the NFL right now that I;d take over Bledsoe.

That said, if we plan to contend...
priority #1 will be to protect Drew Bledsoe at all costs.

In my opinion - I'd rather bring in 2 free agent OTs... a starter at right and an experienced vet back up LT---- than to go thru another season depending on a rookie to protect an immobile QB.

If a monster OT fell to us - fine.
But I don't want to go into the draft absolutely having to have an OT.

As bad as Tucker and Pettiti were... they are still young and learning.
They'll make good backups at the least. And probably will be about as good as any OT you'll take after the 1st round.

We've got an extremely young team with a LOT of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year players.

I'm all about addressing dire needs thru free agency...
leaving us with the liberty of taking the best available player at 18 regardless of position.

I said this in another thread, but I think Bill is going to give Pettiti every chance to succeed at that position. I think Rob has the tools to be a solid player sooner or later...

In the meantime, I expect Parells to bring in someone who can hold down the position if Rob isn't ready, but someone who can also be phased out and be a backup if Rob takes a big step forward this offseason.

I just don't think Bill drafts a young RT. I think he feels like he's got one.

I think we also can get a RT in the 2nd round or in FA. Tackles (and most players) are such a crap shoot, it's hard to determine if you're going to get a good player there in any round of the draft.

So I take more of a chance to get a guy in FA or the second round like Daryn Colledge. He's a bit undersized, but is considered a strong and dominant RT. He's very athletic which is important when trying to jump out against speed Rusher off the edge.

His only problem is his weight (around 298), but he can put on 10 pounds in the off season, and by year 3, he could be around 320. There are several like him out there, plus the addition of a FA, and we're set there.

If we follow your plan, than the boys should trade down a little bit to get another pick. We should then take Max Jean Giles. We need a dominant on the player on the Oline now.

I never thought of that - Giles would be a great pick in the 2nd if he last that long. That way we could pick up a FA tackle (he doesn't have to be all-pro, just better than Petitti and Tucker, is that so hard to find?).

I was thinking more like getting Giles with a low first and a tackle in the 2nd. 28 - 30 pick. Like you said he won't last until the 2nd.

If theres any tackle I would want in the first round it would be Jonathon Scott. The kid owns players and often shuts down opposing defensive ends. I watched and went to every longhorns game this year and I only witnessed him having one bad game but other than that he was money. The thing that I like about him is that he wouldnt draw to many flags.

I like Winston Justice and Max Jean Giles as well those guys are the only ones I would take in the first round. For some reason Im just not sold on McNeill...

We'll get us a starting RT thru free agency and let Rob & TT be backups. We can't draft a OT in rd 1 'cause we're going to take Bobby Carpenter in 1. Then Taitusi Latui in 2. Then we get either Todd Watkins or Pat Watkins in 3. Hopefully we can find a way to draft David Thomas the TE from Texas. He looks like the 2nd coming of JWitt to me.

At least that's what I hope, for now until I change my mind again.

IMO, Jeff Ireland and crew have to study hard and select the most talented impact player on the board when we pick........you cannot wait for players to contribute in today's NFL

Yeah I agree. Just look at Ed Reed, Todd Heap, And Terrell Suggs for example they have done a mighty fine job drafting in Baltimore. You need to draft players that can make an impact on your team within the next 2 seasons.

Unless Blaylock is a clear top 3 OT, I think it would be a mistake for him to come out. This draft is so rich in OT talent, he would probably have a better chance to make more if he came out next year. Class is not nearly as talented next year.
