Our new team building strategy

You know how you team build? You get a Patrick Mahomes or Josh Allen type QB. That solves a whole lot of issues.
All those stupid Tshirts teams make with some fancy expression to make all you feel good mean JACK SQUAT.

Teams are always dysfunctional when they lose, and when they win they all proclaim their love for one another.

WINNING or LOSING dictates those feelings, not the other way around.

One of the several problems I have with the Cowboys annual of season talent acquisition is nearly all are on one-year deals, so if somebody actually exceeds expectations next year, we’ll make a “Fair Offer” but another team will make a “Farer Offer” and off they’ll go!

How do you ever build a team like that?

Wrap it and use the 50% rule.....and no, extra thick bacon can't be used

Jerry's new mantra.

Give me your poor tired draft busts yearning to get paid and I will huddle those masses and breathe free while satisfying my gambling fix.
Wow Cowboys fans has anybody assembled this many first round draft busts in one off season.

You just got to give it to Jerry he's bound and bent to not build the team in any proven conventional way.
His new plan if it pays off even partially will make him look like the football guy he wants to look like that he saw talent and resurrected all these careers.

In reality if some of the spit he has thrown against the wall actually sticks it will be a pleasant surprise.

I'm interested to see what cowboy Nation thinks about this new team building philosophy.
My opinion is at least we're trying something and with a new coaching staff there's always a chance that some of these players May achieve a higher potential and become useful starters.

That said if this coaching staff is also a bust this season could turn into a full-blown bloopers reel.
Rumor has it Ryan Leaf was spotted throwing bullseyes through tires recently… monster truck tires… not actually moving… laying on the ground at his feet… But, he hit at least 50%. #2 overall pick, baby! Sign him up!

It all boils down to trying to find value in a cheap player that maybe fills a scheme need. It's kind of like Jimmy Johnson's draft philosophy of the more picks you have the higher probability of finding a good player that can contribute, except it's in free agency. Now this free agency strategy seems a lot more mad science esch, or money ball like if you will but I'm sure the Cowboys will find a few of these guys that will contribute more than we expect. I along with many fans are probably skeptical vs going out and spending money on a couple players to clearly upgrade a spot, but in some respects it'll be interesting how it pans out.

I personally thought the LB additions and Fowler were solid moves that will likely help the team. The rest are swings.

Drafting projects early is IMHO stupid. Now they are trading late picks for projects who's deals are nearly up. Longshots and projects are great in free agency and late in the draft where you have 4 years of control on their contract to give them the time they need to develop.

It will be very interesting to see if this new coaching staff can make something out of these guys obviously they had talent at one time and may still have talent might just need the right scheme and the right coaches to bring it out of them.

If three of them turn out to be impact players I call it a big win

One of my biggest fears is if this works pretty good on the short run it will validate Jerry's unorthodox team building process and he may continue to implement it with tragic results later on.

Similar to when he won a Super bowl with Barry Switzer after saying that anyone could coach the team then found out that was the farthest thing from the truth the hard way
