Jay Novacek. Huzzah! He is contemporary and has been retired for the needed time and was one of the keys to the Super Bowl wins.

My sympathies go to the Lee Roy Jordan and Chuck Howley but iffin you cant convince the NFL in almost four decades, maybe we should root for a contemporary.

Yes we have our favorites among Cowboys. But no one can say Novacek does not deserve it!
Time to salute the new, a venerable player in the Cowboys pantheon. And I sure wish his HOF bust could instead be one of him vaulting over a defender.:)

Cliff Harris. Chuck Howley. Drew Pearson. All of them should be ahead of Novacek. He was an integral part of several great teams, but does not deserve the hall of fame. There I said it.

OK. But what you say is like blaspheme. hey you recall when he vaulted over that defender. I went and did a double take and took another bite of tuna surprise and said "Dang did you see that?'' He was like lightning.

Cliff Harris. heh. I dont see that happening.

Darren Woodson should be next along with Larry Allen
well at least those two are contemporay and not from the ice age.

The next guy should be Ed Jones, but I don't think he'll get in. He probably changed the way DEs are used. It's a joke he's not even in the ROH.

I think Haley should get in before Novecek. But both should be in it.

Novecek will have a tough time because TEs today put up such good numbers. And his numbers back then weren't even as good as Keith Jackson or Brent Jones. But he should be in based on how important he was for Aikman. Irvin was the big play threat but for big first downs to keep drives going he would really rely on Novecek a lot. If he doesn't get in the next decade I doubt we ever see Novecek get in.

Haley should be in the Hall now but I think his bipolar disorder is gonna keep him out.

Larry Allen should be a first ballot HOFr in a couple years. I'm not sure if Woodson is good enough to get in.

Howley, Harris, and Jordan from the 70s teams should be in there.

I've never even heard Novacek mentioned as a possible HOF inductee. He has virtually no chance of being selected.

Jay Novacek, not a chance. The most yards he had in a season was in 1995 with 705 yards, his last year in Dallas. Most td's was 6, in 1992. Not exactly gold standard for tight ends. Good tight end, but not hof worthy.

Agreed.

I really think Woodson should get in. I don't think he ever will, but he should.

Numbers don't give Novecek service. He was really important to that offense. There's about half a dozen players on those teams that without them we don't win those championships and Novecek is one of those guys.

I would agree that based purely on numbers Haley should be in and he's one of those parts that's really vital to those championships.

Chuck Howley
Harvey Martin
Cliff Harris
Charles Haley
Larry Allen

Darren Woodson needs to get into the ROH first. Maybe if Jerry puts Harvey in the Ring, he will receive more serious consideration for the Hall.

George Andrie and Erik Williams also need to get into the ROH.

Larry Allen then Ware followed by Witten.

novacek and woodson belong in the hall of very good. they won't make it into the hall of fame.

i imagine the best chance that the older players have is through the old-timers category.

people especially the newer fans will never know how good Andrie was because they won't even know to ask...same may happen to Erik, Harvey and many others

Isn't that the truth! He was a great DE for us who went to 5 consecutive Pro-Bowls at a time when that meant something. Also, there were a bunch of HoF DEs in the league at the time so it's not like he was competing with scrubs.

"Unofficially" he is credited with 97 sacks in his 11 seasons with us.. That's pretty darn good for a guy who was an every-down player.

Our defense in the late 60s-early 70s was amazing! He was a HUGE part of why it was so good. Too bad he won't get a sniff at the HoF. I don't know why the old regime didn't put him in the RoH but if they didn't then I seriously doubt Jerry will and the HoF mediots use that as an excuse not to consider our older players.

Cornell Green
John Niland
Chuck Howley
Cliff Harris
Harvey Martin
Darren Woodson
Larry Allen

Nonplayers

Gil Brandt
Jimmy Johnson

And Jerry needs to be horsewhipped around the stadium three times at a home game for every one of these names not in the Ring of Honor.

Seriously, there are only three that may make it soon. Martin, Woodsen, and Allen. Howley and others may make it once we're all dead.
