Our nickel defense should be really good this year.
Linebackers in the nickel... Both Burnett and Carpenter are pretty good pass rushers. Burnett is good in coverage, and I don't think Carpenter is a liability. In fact I heard he was pretty good in coverage as well. Neither are starters, so should be completely fresh on 3rd downs (with the exception of when they spell Ware and probably Ellis (even though they want Bobby in the inside, I think he will spell Ellis on the outside)).
We might also go something like 2-3-3 with Roy Williams, or simply Burnett and Williams, with Watkins and Davis in the secondary.
Then there is our 4 man defensive line...
Ware - Johnson - Ratliff - Ellis
I really think that is really good. Our inside isn't hugely important for the pass rush, but they should be fresh as well. But you still have that pass rush from Ware and Ellis.
