Our Offense may not have gotten better, but the Defense certainly has

Mazi was a pick that needed to be made. Him and Hankins should significantly improve the run defense next year.

LB Overshown is as athletic as they come. If he has clear lanes, he'll tackle anyone in front of him.

And don't forget we have Gilmore.

Quinn is going to have this unit in the top 3, if not the best Defense in the league.
Last year the Dallas defense got to play some terrible QB's/Bad offenses.
Joshua Dobbs. Davis Mills, Matt Ryan, Carson Wentz, Sam Howell, Justin Fields, Gardner Minshew.

Not to mention they were fortunate to play Detroit missing Their two top recievers one of their backs and a week after they traded their starting Tight End. They got the bengals at the right time too. Something was off with them early in the year.

This year those qbs from the afc they will play will be Justin Herbert, Josh Allen, Aaron Rodgers, Tua Tagliovola, Mac Jones and then Geno Smith and Kyler Murray.

I would say that is a major difference. Declaring Dallas as the top defensive unit seems a bit premature. You could make the case that since New Orleans is playing the AFC south this year they might have a top Defensive unit. They Play the AFC South and the bucs 2x, the panthers 2x, the packers. Who you play is as big as how you play.

And so the 49ers went out and built (or bought in their case) a defence which beat the Cowboys, which is hopefully what we have done in readiness for the Eagles.
I'll ask you this.......when was the last time Stephen Jones used a 1st rounder on a 1 tech? Also....where would you rank our interior Dline in the division? So yea, it appears we finally prioritizing defense over offense

The Cowboys improved the run offense today. That was a point of emphasis from the head coach. Anything to help the quarterback.

The defense will be top 7-8 easily. Probably higher by midseason. Stay healthy and they are top 5 or better by playoffs.
They will be better at keeping opponents to an average of 19 points a game...and every single one of those games is winnable.

The weapons are better but we lost our LG
There are 3 tackles and 4 presently that can play left guard...hey, next man up. This unit has some 'young players' growing and getting their own baptism of fire.

I'll say again what I've said in another thread.......

I thought that the Cowboys were going to focus more on the running game next season. Wouldn't that require an upgrade at LG and RB?

I get the TE, Schoonmaker. he a good blocking TE. I get Mazi Smith. the only upgrade we need more that the two previously mentioned is D-line interior against the run. Good pick, now that think about it some more.

However,

Pollard can't do it alone and I thought that Jerry would have learned by now that you just can't throw anybody in there to run the ball. With all the Curvin Richards and Derrick Lassics and Joseph Randles that have come through this franchise, surely he understands that!

I thought we were trying to find an upgrade to the LG position. Right now, we barely have a warm body and that isn't likely to improve with a day #3 pick.

So, I admit, I'm somewhat confused. What happened to focusing on a more relevant running game?
Hey, they worked on the presence of this team, but still need another DB, kicker, and QB home grown...now just where?

I think the offense is better but was hoping for more. Lamb, Cooks, and Schoonmaker>Schultz plus Pollard gives them an an acceptable talent level at pass catchers.

They added Ronald Jones as RB2. He is the forgotten man. Is he all world? No. But as RB2 he can definitely help take the load off Pollard.

Add a pick later today and some UDFA RBs and we can let it play out.
