We lost the battles in the trenches tonight. Couldn't run to save our lives, and had to pass in half a second. On D we can't stop a team in the guts of the game. The ran right through our guts.

It's amazing how many holes we have to fill next year.

Said this in chat. Basically the best way to summarize this game is that we were dominated in the trenches. Just dominated.

Can't argue that at all. I wonder what the heck Olshansky is doing out there sometimes. He was almost impossible to run on last season and now he's nowhere to be found.

I'm not sure both can be fixed in one offseason, unfortunately. If we had to prioritize, I would prioritize the defense. Our offense has the ability to put up points, even without a running game.

Igor sucks, that cutback lane has been there all season, and i think Spears is a lot more valuable then people want to admit

The OL is just bad

Both sides need a major overhaul. Needs to be 2-3 new starters on the offensive line and on the defensive line, a big NT is needed and Igor needs to go. I wouldn't even mind moving Josh Brent to 3-4 DE for even more size, like the Packers have with their 3-4 DEs.

As far as the DL, i truly believe that one transaction would turn our defense around.

I've been saying this for awhile, but if we're going to continue to play the 34, go out and get even a half decent NT. A true big, space eating NT who will stuff the middle, get a push, and tie up blockers to allow our LB's to run free to the ball.

Move Rat to DE, and see how quickly this defense improves.

I agree...Jerry and co really need to shore up both lines next offseason. I say three or four draft picks need to be lineman and a priority in the free agent market.

exactly I bet we have the smallest 3-4 line in the NFL. 3-4 lineman should be big. look at the steelers, ravens, patriots their 3-4 lineman are huge especially their Nosetackles.

Last year the Eagles were asking the same question. They let a couple of players go, picked up a few players, and are playing better, and all of sudden they are playoff bound.

That is what we need to do.

The offensive line sucks big time. Get rid of BIG and Columbo.

We have flaws up the defensive middle. This is no secret and has been readily apparent since Week 2.

But for a team that was "dominated" we only lost by three.

Just like the 4 previous games, the run defense was outstanding until that one long run by McCoy.

They dont need to blow everything up like some of you are saying. Spears is the best DE on the team and he's missed, especially on run downs. Brooking is done. The safeties need upgrades. But the entire defense isnt awful.

They need some changes, not a complete overhaul.

Agreed, with a new DC and new scheme ideas, safeties, NT and re-signing Spears should work wonders.

The OL is just embarrassing. It has never been more evident that they are bad. The only way they can run the ball is when the defense is in the nickel. When there's 7 or 8 in the box though, they get whipped. It's crystal clear inside the 5-yard line, when the field gets short and defenses essentially stack their players in the box. The Cowboys just can't convert those plays running the 2 TE set.

Run blocking was simply horrible - few sustained blocks, and the Eagles exploited every gap constantly, often well in our backfield before we could spring the back into a run lane - and those were few and far between as well.

Defense needs better interior run defense and someone opposite Ware for pressure.

And despite that - we almost won. As noted, we are a player here, a player there away from a far more cohesive line. Our biggest problem, to me, is our offensive right side with Davis and Colombo, who are BOTH done. Hard to break in both slots simultaneously, but it must be done...

You can't talk sense to the cry baby over reaticion crowd.

The novice fan looks at this game and sees us getting whipped up front.

When in actually fact this was all about Vic and Kitna

Vic stretched our defense tonight. Forced us to defend much more field than Kitna forced the eagles to.

Obvious fatigue factor working against us as the game wore on and we wore out.
