Is a LOUSY 4-9!
The Giants are 6-7
The FORESKINS are 7-6:bang2:
The E-girls, unsurprisingly, are 9-4
So as you can see, while the NFCE is the toughest division in all of football, and getting wins in these matchups are hardly gimmes...as you can see, all of our divisional opponents are at least .500 in these matchups, and we aren't even close.
Just look at these games...
'03 at The Linc - it's tied 10-10 at the half(would have been 14-10 if Hambrick hadn't run out of bounds scared), then just imploded quickly in the 2nd half and lost by a blowout score.
'04 at The Meadowlands - had the lead in the 4th, and late in the game, until bone-head penalty after bone-head penalty all but let Eli and the Giants score the winning TD(hence giving the younger Manning his first win as a starter).
'05 at The Meadowlands - the NFCE crown is *on the line*, and while the Giants come out fired up and come out ready to play, we do just the opposite. 17-10 Giants, but the score WASN'T AS CLOSE as it showed, as the Giants practically bullied us on the LOS.
'05 at FedEx Field - the LAST WC spot *on the line*, however-from the opening kicking the Skins just gave us an 'ole-fashioned butt-whoopin. If this were an Oct game, fine, it happens, But with alot on the line, you don't lay an egg like this IN Dec.
'06 at TX Stadium, xmas against the Eagles - the NFCE is *our's* for the taking. We win, the division is all our's. So conventional wisdom says we come out fired, revenge our last meeting's loss at The Linc, and catch the Eagles while they're on a rough, tail-end of their 3 game NFCE road trip. Right? Just the contrary happened-from the opening kicking, the Eagles smacked US in the mouth on the LOS. What a flat, lethargic, and an emotionless performance by the home team with EVERYTHING for the taking for them.
'07 at TX Stadium, against the Eagles - Eagles have stunk it up all year, and looked ready to pack it in for the holidays. While us, OTOH, were rolling right along and had everything in our destiny. Instead?? Another flat, Dec performance against a divisional rival.
'07 at TX Stadium to the Giants in the NFCDG - we've discussed this ad-nausium already here, so need not say more.
As you can see, of course, this has been a recurring trend against NFCE opponents every year. And again, even our hated-FORESKINS seem to show up OK against their divisional opponents.
And every time, WHY can't we have someone step up and make a play?? Has it every happened? Hardly!
