What this lacks more than anything else I can see, is an emotional leader, a person the rest of the team can feed off of. Someone they can count on to deliver when the chips are down and the wheel is spinning.. and that person is going to be TO. Like him or Hate him.. he has the emotional intesity to light a fire. The problem is, he doesn't perform when the chips are down. If he can step up his game and get his game to match his emotion,, that could be just what this team needs. I think Romo will be that player in another year or two.. he just don't have the battle scars to be that person right now.

On Defense, Brady James has to step up and be that leader.

Until this team finds an emotional leader.. much like a Ray Lewis, Michael Strahn, etc.. we will be average.

this is the worst news I have ever heard.

If our season depends on owens, then I guess we will a 6-10 or 7-9 team.

When are people going to stop fantacising about this guy and realize he is not dominant anymore and now he is also back to being inconsistent.

There is no excuse for his play and antics yesterday.

Looks like our season is over, then.

We've got a 25 million dollar pretty good inconsistent WR. At least to this point.

Much of this is going to have to come from Romo.

It is the nature of his position and, apparently, consistent with his personality.

No it doesn't.

If you take Owens out of the equation, this team still beats the Skins, Texans, Titans and probably the Panthers.

To be a leader on a team, you have to actually be willing to put team goals over self interest. Since there isn't the slightest sign in his behavior to date to indicate that Owens is capable of that, it would seem that counting on him to lead anyone anywhere is pointless.

To see Owens' name in the same sentence as 'leader' is sickening.

As he berated his head coach on the sidelines yesterday after once again putting his egotistical self before his team
with a self-aggrandizing TD celebration, he should have ended ALL claims that he qualifies as any kind of leader.

Go back and watch the act..and how his teammates swarmed around him ready to high-five him.

Watch as he dropped to the ground, made his little exhibitionist limelight joke, and then hopped back up only to haul arse to the sidelines, ignoring his dumbfounded team-mates, left slack-jawed in amazement.

Owens TD celebrations are about him and him only. Sharing the celebration with team-mates? Who the hell are THEY? Just low-rent extras in the grand old circus called "TO".

I'm willing to discount the mediots contention (SSPN Cold Pizza claiming DMN writers were lip-reading) that what Owens blasted at Parcells on the sidelines was "If you don't like it, sit me" when Bill dared address the penalty. Willing to discount it because that would be too much to contemplate...a whole sale admission that Owens runs this team, not Parcells.

But there was no denying the anger of Owens that Parcells dared say anything. And no doubt the celebration was for him only...his team-mates left mouths agape....

...some freaking "leader".

If this team needs that clown to 'lead it', just cancel the rest of the season.

TO is NOT a leader. While a damn good player, he is not the type of player to galvanize a team. The kind of player that can talk to any player on the team offense or defense and make him accountable. I'd figure some of his teamates would tell him to beat it. Ray Lewis is a leader. Like him or not, when you play for the Ravens, you ARE accountable.

Surprised no one said this season DEPENDED on TO. Two very unclutch drops that could sway both huge divisional games.

He doesn't have it in him. A team leader is not nearlly as self-involved as Owens is. Everything he does is about TO. The thing I fear w/Owens and I posted this on another thread, but I'm beginning to wonder if his drops which are excused to mental lapses are the fact that he's thinking about what he's gonna do after the catch instead of focusing on making the catch. I can see Owens thinking ball is in my hands, nobody is in front of me, I've got 6, and what kind of crazy antic am I gonna do once I get in.

Oh a team of little TO's. Everyone screaming at eachother on the sidelines and acting out. We could become the Raiders, that would be cool.

Frankly, hope TO enjoys his money cause I doubt (hope) we don't bring him back. He's not really the distraction the media has portrayed him to be but he also has not been the TO that JJ thought he would be. So when this season is over, hopefully TO will be gone.

I concur. When he dropped the 4rth down pass against the Giants we lost all momentum. Samething Sunday on the TD drop. When will he finally step up? His defiance always backfires.
