Yeah that’s asking a lot. If Guyton can get healthy I’ll take that. If Blue can wear the right cleats I’ll take that lol. It Trigg can make the 53 I’ll take it.

I would disagree simply because overall the team has won/lost at basically the same rate each year regardless of who the QB has been since 2020. 2020 and 2024 were just bad teams in general.

  • 2020 - 2-4 with Dak, 4-7 without Dak
  • 2021 - 11-5 with Dak, 1-0 without Dak
  • 2022 - 8-4 with Dak, 5-1 without Dak
  • 2023 - No missed games by Dak
  • 2024 - 3-5 with Dak, 4-5 without him
  • 2025 - No missed games by Dak
Danold was a bust/backup for years, then gets a superstar WR to throw to on a great team and wins a superbowl. Joe Flacco could barely move the ball in Cleveland last year and goes to Cincinnati and averages 275 yards and 27 points per game. Personally I think we waaaay overrate the QB position in todays version of the game. If you have a good roster you really don't need elite QB play...you just have to avoid poor QB play.

Are you seriously asking the question as to why we ask for proof? This has nothing to do with other takes on here; it's asking for proof from somebody who makes false claims 100x a day on here, and plays his pity party around them. Second, you do know he does the same thing, right? Third, he talks accountability as if he can actually spell the word. Lastly, he is the President of the hate brigade

The addition of Dee Winters is an upgrade, but after those two there are a ton of question marks. Third round pick Jaishawn Barham is talented but raw. And they are all in a new scheme. IMO this position needs some veteran presence.
  • EDGE RUSHER - we’ve added a good player in Rashon Gary. He’s a good run stopper and an above average pass rusher. We drafted a talented young pass rusher in Malachi Lawrence. And 2nd year rusher Donovan Ezeiruaku emerged late last year. None of these guys are great pass rushers. We have to hope we can get a pass rush by committee.
  • CORNER - some of the biggest question marks are at this position. Veteran Deron Bland has been really good at times but has also had two foot surgeries the last two years. We added a FA good corner in Cobie Durant on a 1 yr cheap deal. And 2nd year Shavon Revel must show he can be healthy enough to play well. This position may also need a late addition veteran.
COACHING
  • NEW DC CHRIS PARKER - our new DC appears to be just what the Dr ordered. He’s bringing a much better scheme and has a great rapport with the players. But he’s also 34, and has yet to call a play as a DC. He may need some time to grow and learn.
  • HC BRIAN SCHOTTENHEIMER- his second year as HC needs to be a breakout. His first year he showed some offensive chops but he was handed a terrible defensive roster and DC. IMO he needs to lay off the cheesy “Bro Language” he throws out and prove he is a cohesive leader of men.
I’m excited to see what this team will be. The 2024 and 2025 seasons gave us a 14-19-1 record with no playoffs. This team’s talent has certainly been upgraded and hope is real. But as the saying goes, “Hope is not a strategy”.

We are just six weeks away from real football and finding out what this team really is. Can’t wait.

Jsut a note since I seem to find myself arguing on behalf of Schottenheimer often (and Pickens).

I think what we see in public is different than what happens within the team

Clayton Adams, in his interview on The Atheltic (that I don’t think but a few listened to) said that one of the main themes he’s learning from Schottenheimer is how to be direct and honest.

He said that the culture ther Schottenheimer is building simply doesn’t have time or energy to waste on meaningless disagreements and instead focuses on saying what needs to be said, once, getting alignment and moving on.

He said that the balance he’s learning is that as oline coach, the lees a tendency to have a! “us against the mentality, oftentimes not knowing who is on the team outside of your position group, sometimes creating pointless friction. He appreciated that Schottenheimer has shown how to bring all sides of the team together to head off pointless nonsense.

Howell is "most likely" a superior back up to Rush too talent wise.

But your overall point is taken and I agree.

So you think this team can do just as much with Howell as Prescott? That can’t be what you’re saying.

Every year since Romo/Prescott when they lost the starter early….24, 20, 15 off the top of my head, the season was essentially over. To a lesser degree when Romo missed significant time in 2008 and Brad Johnson could no longer throw a football.

With two exceptions that we all know too well, when a team loses its starting QB they aren’t making some deep playoff run.
 
Schotty is really going to have to help this defense out by getting the offense to score a little more early in the 1st quarter and be more efficient scoring TD's in the red zone. I loved how they did a much more thorough process in hiring the DC and his assistants this year. I believe they did a good job drafting for best avilable that fit a need defensively as well.
 
Good post Bob. I am not as concerned at MLB though. But Overshown does need to stay healthy. But I am not going to figure in health at this point.
Injuries happen and they will need to deal with those if they happen. Maybe for once we get a healthy year from all. As to long term injuries. The small ones all teams go through.

Seeing what Guyton does will be a TC watch. However, all we can go by is what they tell us. And will need to wait until game 1 to really know for sure. I feel he will be the starter though.

Parker, to see his defense will be the main interest for almost everyone. Will they be attacking, or blitzing more. How well can they disguise things. He learned under Fangio, so I am not concerned with him being a 1st time DC. We seen many new young coaches come out and do very well. But having the talent helps.
As you said, they had a very good off season.

And how does Schottenheimer progresses with the offense, and as a HC as well.
Teams have a year of film to dissect now. So can he be innovative and throw in some wrinkles to counter that.

Speaking of a very good off season. What has been the best thing about it.
The FO staying pretty much quiet. Seems they been staying in the background more so than ever.

The stronger point he's making is that the team win/loss record should have shown much more wins while he was a starter prior to his injuries. Especially like in '20 and 24, which he pointed out.

If they were doing great "while he was the starter" and then fell off a cliff record wise then its a different story.
That ain't what TP is showing here.
Just the opposite in fact.

Nice post Bob.

I dont see LB as problematic as you do. In todays NFL and in Parkers scheme (afai know it) LB wont be such a valuable asset. Not in the way we know MLBs from the past. I think we are ok there with what we got.

Ao i personally would swap LB with RT. To me the much bigger concern.
