Personnally I think all this "my line is bigger than your line" is a crock be it from the Cowboy's perspective or another team's perspective. "Weight" can be an asset... but so can "Speed". But a big guy without enough quickness or enough intuition or enough technique isn't going to be an asset-- no matter what his weight is.

It should have been 751, not 711, for our Dline. The math on yours is fine.

It's not really a complete comparison. DeMarcus Ware isn't listed, nor is the second DT for the Eagles.

Broderick Bunkley (I'm guessing here) ... 286 lbs
DeMarcus Ware ... ca 260 lbs.

David.

Also Talon you have Canty listed as 279 when it has been reported he is at 305 right now (300 by camp), thats another 26 pound difference

For a more accurate comparison:

Eagles
Michael Lewis........222lbs
Brian Dawkins........210lbs
Lito Shepard..........195lbs
Sheldon Brown.......200lbs
Jeremiah Trotter....262lbs
Matt McCoy..........230lbs
Darwin Walker........294lbs
Darren Howard.......275lbs
Jevon Kearse.........265lbs
Mike Patterson......292lbs
Dhani Jones..........240lbs

Total...................2685lbs

Cowboys
Keith Davis..............198lbs
Roy Williams.............226lbs
Terrance Newman.....190lbs
Anthony Henry.........205lbs
Bobby Carpenter.......255lbs
Brady James............245lbs
Akin Ayodele............251lbs
DeMarcus Ware........260lbs
Jason Ferguson........305lbs
Chris Canty..............305lbs
Marcus Spears..........307lbs

Total......................2747lbs

62 lbs is quite a bit when you consider the Cowboys' secondary is nearly 10 lbs lighter than the Eagles'. That means the Cowboys' front seven is on average 10 lbs heavier/man than the Eagles front seven.

Parcells wanted a bigger defense and he got it.

Count again ...coUnt the total ...then divide by the number of players for the average. It's really quite easy; but where did you get your numbers?

Yeah, see, I wasn't dong averages. I was doing TOTAL WEIGHT. It's really quite a simple concept.

My numbers were from the team websites, except for Canty who is 30 lbs heavier than his listed weight.

PT said he was not good at Arithmetic? He wants to "average" it out! :p:

What he don't know is...?

America's team, the Dallas Cowboys, are not, or ever want to be average...EVER! Average don't cut it...

I think if you compare, you should probably compare 3-4 defenses. And if you did it that way, the Chargers blow us away on our front 7. Not sure about the entire defense....

I envy San Diego's Size up front. Although we are pretty close to their size now minus the massive DT.

The thing we have on them is youth. 4 of their front 7 are over the age of 30.

Williams 30
Edwards 33
Godfrey 33
Foley 32

I like our youth, size, speed and depth better than any other team running the 3-4 right now.
