I was on his case for the fumble last game... and like many predicted... he would do something in this game to redeem himself... Outstanding job Tony... But to make sure that all is clear on my position on this matter it has never been to me about his desire, his preparation, his toughness, etc... I believe Tony has proven those things often enough to know beyond a shadow of a doubt were his heart lies.

In the end it doesn't change my point about last week and I believe that will be a problem throughout his career but it shouldn't take away from the gutsy performance this week again good job Tony Romo.

Zaxor, your picture is a good one. I think that Tony just turned the corner as a respected leader of this team. Guts as he showed, are rewarded in the arena of a leader. He just won the team, and respect by the media. That is a great hurdle cleared. Players responded, and will continue to give it up for both Tony Romo, and the prominent coaches: Jason Garrett and Rob Ryan.

The only question I have for you is are you as upset about what the rest of the team did to put him in that position again? I think there is a huge difference if Romo is up by 10 in the 4th and his turnovers cost us the lead compared to his play being excellent to that point and ST's and defense coughing up the lead and his failing to regain it.

I agree he made bad decisions and shared big time in the loss. But even with those turnovers, he played well enough to win that game. The guy needs his team to step up and bail him out now and again, it can't always be on his shoulders.

When you can't run the ball and the QB goes for 350 and multiple TD's against one of the best defenses and possibly the best secondary in the league, the defense and ST's have to do more then they did, imo.

No way he can do what he did 14 (or 16 or 17) more times this year. People ARE stepping up tho...very close to 3 receivers over 100 yards. Jenkins, phillips, lee, hatcher, ware, ratliff, Austin, witten, holley, ball (compared to last year), even Bailey at the end making plays. Coleman and Elam are upgrades. Penalties are down even with a young OL. Preparation n play calling r better. Schedule is more forgiving. This is fun!

Very well put. You just about covered everything.

Except for the injuries, I agree that this is fun. We seemed primed for a run against a couple of teams who achieved 2-0 records against questionable competition. Then the injuries crept up. Boy have they crept up. If Garrett and Ryan can get these guys to dig down deep and win these next two games before the bye despite the injuries, it could turn out to be a very fun season indeed.

at no point ever have I claimed that the loss was on Tony alone nor do I contest the fact that football is the ultimate team game and one person can only do so much... What I did say is that fumble irks me the most because it was premeditated and knowing you are running into the middle of a defense you always... ALWAYS cover the ball with both hands and keep it high and tight...the other stuff didn't irk me so bad because the jets and their coaching staff get paid to play this game too and they called a play that fooled Tony on the int that can happen but what I am talking about is fundamental football...there is no good excuse for that to happen and that can't become a habit.

All I heard was, " I am a fairweather Tony Romo supporter."

Support him 100% or dont. Choose a side. Decide.

It's not a habit. He has been protecting the ball better the last few years and he's a QB, not a running back so expecting him to cover with both hands and tuck it high and tight when he's scrambling for the goal line while under pressure is a little unrealistic. He was improvising on a broken down play and made a bad decision, it was not a QB sneak, it happens.

He should have thrown it away or slid rather than trying to power run in, if you want to be critical. The mistake was his running for it when we had the lead and it was not 4th down. That's what really needs to be corrected, throw it away or slide and then you don't have to worry about protecting the ball like a power back.

Kind of like maintaining a five-yard interval at all times and keeping one's kevlar on as well.

Surely you aren't implying he used two hands or even tucked the ball tightly and high 'n tight.

lol did you see big ole Wilfork covering the ball when he was running it starts at POP Warner learning football fundamentals...

He might should have thrown it away but I will not fault a guy for trying to make a play as long as it is calculated...you remove his ability to make a play and you might as well sit him down he will do you no good.

but basic ball security is a must know for every player...did you ever play football? regardless of the position I bet when you got your hands on the ball and start waving it around a coach corrected you or should have... are you trying to tell me Romo never heard of it before that moment...and if the ball is properly secure they would have to kill him or knock him out before he would lose that ball. That is unacceptable as it is football basics the other stuff well that happens from time to time.

well put my friend...
regardless of what your other job is in the Army every one is trained in basic infantry... Army life can be high stress and you have to make life and death decisions in a blink of an eye sometimes and they do not accept that you did not know what to do when you are trained and tested on it...basic fundamentals must at all time be adhered to... I am not sure why that should be so foreign to so many.

being a race car driver does not exempt you from using a blinker.

Not true. A good hit can cause a fumble even if the ball is properly secured. It happens. I'm not excusing Romo. Maybe he should've used both hands or slid sooner, etc. But I have seen guys fumble just because the hit caused it, not because they did anything wrong.

Not at all, I said expcting a QB who is scrambling from pressure who sees daylight and dives for the goal line to protect the ball like a power back is pretty unrealistic. QB's all tend to be a little lose with the ball around pressure, because they are looking to throw, that's why so many fumble.

I think it's more important to continue to drill into Romo that his running the ball when we have the lead and we still have downs left is unacceptable. I'd prefer not to see him run like that seeing as how fragile he's been lately.

Priority 1, don't make dumb throws, Priority 2, throw it away or slide if there are downs left, Priority 3, tuck the ball away if Priority 2 is not an option. That's my order of what he needs to work on. If he'd gotten Priority 2 correct, he would not have had to worry about tucking the ball.
