Underrated Prospects:

Tyler Lockett, WR, Kansas State What Tyler Lockett lacks in size, he makes up for in picture-perfect route running and hands seemingly made of tree sap. He has been an absolute force for Kansas State this year, and has absolutely carried their offense at points during the season. It cannot be understated how important route running is in the NFL and Tyler Lockett is one of the best route runners to come out of the college game in years. He has taken over games at the collegiate level, and I believe that he will continue taking over games at the professional level too.

Denzel Perryman, LB, Miami Perryman is one of my favorite players in recent history. He has several tackles that should be sent to every high school in America as the textbook definition of how to tackle clean while still lowering the boom. He has top-end speed as well as great range sideline to sideline. I honestly do not understand how he isn’t higher on more team’s draft boards, this kid plays the sport with an old school flair that reminds me of a Luke Kuechly. He may struggle in coverage a little bit, but his run stop game is unparalleled in this draft.

Jake Fisher, OT, Oregon Jake Fisher, while he may be a little undersized for the NFL, is a top-tier run blocker. So much so that Oregon’s entire offense in the national championship game ran through him trying to get to Joey Bosa, Ohio State’s all-world DE. While Bosa got the best of him in that game, it wasn’t completely skill related. Fisher was actively schemed against by the Buckeyes so that he could not seal edges for the Ducks’ stable of running backs. He has the arm length, he has the strength, he has the quickness, and oh boy is he conditioned in that blistering Oregon offense. The only tangible he lacks is the size, but that has never stopped undersized talents before.

Overrated Prospects: Marcus Mariota, QB, Oregon

I would add Gregory and Dupree and Fowler to the over rated list and Orchard, Dawson and P Smith to the under rated list

I couldn't agree more about that oleary kid from FSU being overrated... no top level athleticism plays tough... but he isn't a good blocker and not the big fast TEs that the game is now a days

I agree with Lockett. I am not sure how good of a pro he will be and wouldn't take a high pick on him, but that k state didn't have a whole bunch of playmakers on it and Lockett just always made plays. That counts something for me. I went to the baylor K state game and you knew all the big plays were going to him and he just made plays.

Love Perryman. The guy just jumps out at you when you watch Miami play. All over the place and when he hits guys, they go down right away. I'm not crazy about 43 LB's in the first round... but if Dallas took him at 27 I wouldn't complain a bit. Dominant.

I would like to get Jake Fisher in Round 2 as the eventual successor at right tackle.

This is the most surprising of his opinions:

Michael Bennett, DT, Ohio State
As of right now, Bennett has been projected to go 32nd or 31st overall to the Seattle Seahawks. While he might fit in well there, he is far from a complete prospect. He has quickness in spades, and has incredible explosion from the line of scrimmage. However, if he can be slowed a little bit, he has no NFL caliber counter. If you can stop the initial onslaught, Bennett can be dealt with. Not to mention that he played with an all-star cast of defensive linemen at Ohio State. He won’t be catching any single man blocks from Indiana and Iowa anymore, he’ll be going up against the elite talent in the NFL. He reminds me of Aaron Maybin, very quick and explosive, but with nothing else really beyond that. I think he’s going to struggle a bit, although if he finds a counter to when someone manages to get a hat on him he will be dominant.
