Chill out fellow fans-the element of surprise will start wearing off by around mid October. My observations.
Things I noticed-offense had some success with certain new run formations. Interesting timing and pulls/pins that helped spring some nice runs. Downfield passing attack did not execute (missed catches in the second half-that could have something to do with a slick ball at the time)-the fact that the team would try those plays is encouraging. Dak looked sharp on passes and even showed the ability to push defenders off of him and run a little to buy time to throw (something he looked terrible at last season pre-injury). The offensive line overall was fantastic-even with little struggles here and there (zero sacks, 1 QB hit, 3 TFL). I did not see tons of hurries or breakdowns.
Defense had trouble stopping Hurts running and runs to the outside, but stopped most of the inside run game by the best running team in the league. The secondary play must have been excellent (AJ Brown/DeVonta Smith combined for 4 catches and 24 yards). Just one pass given up for over 10 yards (51 to Dotson).
Special teams did their jobs for the most part in limited opportunities.
We will see how the Cowboys and opponents adapt to scheme/personnel changes and see how it affects the game.
I think the Cowboys easily beat the Giants and Bears with defense and field goals or just straight blowouts. No problem or threat by those squads.
