Overshown targeting Thanksgiving return

He needs to play, need a good evaluation of his game after that injury. If he doesn't play and proves that he can hold up and still move, he's likely gone.
He should NOT be on the field until he is as much back as he can get. This idea he has to play this year is beyond DUMB.

If he is not ready do not play him just to see what he can do and risk another injury

Actually it is 4 games in 18 days.
MNF on November 17, Sunday on the 23, T-Day game on the 27, another TNF on December 4.
If Overshown is targeting Thanksgiving, what do the 2 games before that have anything to do with it? I thought that's what we're talking about here...

We all knew he, as well as Diggs will start the season on PUP.
That is at least 6 weeks. They can activate the practice window. To be sure the players are ready to return. That is what 2 or is it 3 weeks now?
Anyway, he could be back as early as the Raiders game after the bye week.
I wonder if the T-Day game is a conservative estimate, or an aggressive one.
I wonder the same too. Heck, we have more questions than answers this year, on a team that has underwent so many changes with staff, scheme and player additions. I expect hardships this year but Necessary growing pains. Just being real.

I was just saying the team plays 4 games in 18 days. I also posted, he could be back by the time the play Vegas.

Yes, as I posted in other threads. I do not expect any miracles, but I feel they can be competitive for that last WC spot.
They are in year 2 of a somewhat soft rebuild. Jerry himself even said, before the draft. They are making moves that are for several years down the road.

Exactly. In my heart of hearts, I believe they are organically just doing the soft rebuild as you said, in order to get to 2027. One Arch Manning is vying to be the big catch. Only reason they re-up with Dak as we did was with that in mind. Dak is my guy but reality is, he is a bridge to the next QB in line. This decision was made when we crapped the bed against GB IMHO. I am intrigued meanwhile see what we can accomplish. I feel until 2026-27, we are playing with house money at QB, especially in the view from ownership. Like you said, I think Jerry has a larger plan going forward. Anything we accomplish now is gravy.

That’s Spauldings buddy and the reason they drafted him, so he will get a long leash.

A good comparison may be Jaylon Smith, who was extremely highly touted at ND, then just couldn’t play the same way once he made it back.

He took such strange angles to the ball carrier at times the only explanation I can figure on is his brain was telling him to do one thing, but his wheels couldn’t get him there the way they used to.

I’m with that, but I’m sure he is going to push to get back on the field.

If the team is doing well, the don’t necessarily need him. If they aren’t, Jerry is going to want the attention. Gotta admit he has playmaking ability.

Lots to happen between now and then, but yeah if he comes back too soon and gets hurt again…not good.

Dr. Jerry will claim he is 100% on T-Day.

What better game can he return, and terrorize Mahomes on national TV. Mahomes will that deer in the headlights looks.
Overshown, 3 sacks, one being a strip, sack, fumble recovery for a TD. He will have 2 INT's, one being a pick 6.

Dream big, I always say!!

Unlike the old days when players sometimes even played games with broken bones and knees that required offseason surgery, that is not today’s NFL. Players are a huge monetary and draft investment. Teams will not put them on the field until they are healthy and can physically play without risk to the same injury. Way too many checks and balances for that to happen. At the same time, players are paid to play. If they are 100% healthy for even the season finale, they are expected to suit up and play. That time is valuable. Regardless of our record or team needs, Overshown will return when the doctors and trainers say he’s 100% ready.

Now that would be pretty sweet. I'd change my mind about going to that game if I knew all that was going to happen.

What a wuss. Its a business not HS.
Have you ever had to make a call like that? If he's clear to play, he plays. Stupid to think otherwise.
