Owens' agent says injury is 'serious'
Drew Rosenhaus, agent for Dallas Cowboys receiver Terrell Owens, characterized his client's hamstring injury as "serious" and criticized media members who say otherwise.

"The pressure being placed on him by the media is ridiculous," the team's Web site quoted Rosenhaus as saying. "It's ludicrous to suspect that he's doing anything but his hardest to come back."
Owens missed 14 practices in a row with a sore left hamstring before he returned to the field Wednesday. He sat out Saturday's afternoon session after apparently telling the team's training staff the hamstring had tightened up again.

The team sent Owens and receiver Patrick Crayton (high ankle sprain) back to Dallas on Sunday. The Cowboys had one last practice in Oxnard, Calif., before breaking camp and flying to Shreveport, La., in the afternoon.

Parodying Parcells:
Saints coach Sean Payton said he's trying to deal with his players in the same blunt manner favored by Bill Parcells. Payton was the Cowboys' assistant head coach/passing game coordinator the last three seasons.

"The one thing with Bill is there were never any hidden punches," Payton said. "You always kind of knew where you stood with him, and I think players appreciate that. It's just telling them the truth, even though it might not be what they want to hear. With Parcells, there weren't any protected pet cats."

McAllister debut:

Saints running back Deuce McAllister is expected to see his first action since he tore his right anterior cruciate ligament in Week 5 of the 2005 season.

McAllister is the Saints' all-time leading rusher with 4,529 yards. He has looked sharp in practice, but Payton kept him out of the preseason opener on Aug. 12 as a precaution.

Blackout lifted:

The NFL has decided its blackout rule won't apply to the Saints-Cowboys preseason game despite the Saints' failure to sell out the nationally televised contest, Shreveport's KTBS 3-TV reported.

The league granted the Saints a second 24-hour extension on Saturday so they could try to sell the remaining 8,000 tickets. But KTBS reported that tickets remained unsold Sunday night, the deadline for the team to sell out the game. But instead of not showing the game within an 80-mile radius of Shreveport, the league decided to lift the blackout in an apparent effort to support the Saints, who returned to New Orleans in January after spending last season in San Antonio in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

"When I heard T.O. was hurt... I cried. He is such a compassionate, beautiful individual. I can't imagine why anyone would ever doubt his word. He has been nothing but a team player his whole life. He is the most selfless person I know. Did I mention he came back from injury to play in the Super Bowl. Excuse me... I'm tearing up again."
