3 games played, 24 receptions, 472 yards (19.7 yards per catch), 7 TDs... if he was somehow able to manage to sustain that kind of pace over a 16 game schedule, that would work out to 128 catches for 2360 yards and 37 TDs...

That would be like a record or something... :)

I find myself wondering if the Boys have ever had a receiver be so dominant over a three game stretch...

TO now has 4 straight games with over 100 yards receiving, and 4 straight games with at least one TD reception... over those 4 games, we're talking about 31 catches for 575 yards and 8 TDs...

We'll talk about his league rankings once they finally get around to updating the stats on either NFL.com or Yahoo, I'm too lazy this morning to go looking up all those numbers and updating the stats myself... suffice it to say he was leading the NFC in receiving yards going into the game, and 173 yards receiving in that game isn't likely to knock him off of that perch... 4 TD catches is liable to move him up in that statistical category as well, and his yards per catch is likely to improve too...

I will take a moment to update his stats for the season, though-- he has 58 catches, for 1028 yards (17.7 yards per catch) and 12 TDs... if he maintains that pace for the rest of the season, we'd be talking about 93 catches for 1645 yards, and 19 TDs... the Cowboys' team record for receiving yards in a single season is 1602 yards, by Michael Irvin in 1995...

He's earning that hefty paycheck, no doubt about it...

Nice timing, eh??

No one can say enough good things about the man.

All the crap he has pulled in the past is in the past.

He has finally found a home and more importantly has a love for his teammates and coaching staff that he is willing to do anything for.

Owens is 13th in the NFL in catches, second in yards, second in touchdowns and fourth in yards per catch. In the NFC, he's sixth in catches, first in yards, first in TDs and second in YPC.

Thanks for saving me that work, Adam... I'd say he's a lock for the Pro Bowl, barring injury...

Not if Randy Moss has anything to say about it...:

Michael Irvin was just as dominant. We just had a much better running game back then. We didn't need to rely on the pass so much.

We haven't passed it that much in these three games, though. Romo has 25, 28 and 32 attempts in them (28.3 per game). From 1991-1996, when we were in our prime, Aikman averaged 29.6 attempts per game (not counting the four games when he left early with injuries after 13, 5, 3 and 6 attempts).

Anyhow, here were Irvin's best three-game stretches --

22-388, 2 TD
18-428, 3 TD
26-435, 2 TD
25-388, 2 TD
28-331, 3 TD
26-394, 1 TD

Irvin never had more than four touchdowns in any three-game stretch.

Thanks Adam. But let's put this in context. I'd like to see what our rushing stats were in those games. I don't think our rushing attack (combined) is even close to what Emmitt was doing back then.

Excellent info Adam! Thanks.

I think Aikman spread it around more than Romo is this year (with Glenn out) as he had Irvin, Harper, Novacek, Emmitt, & Moose to throw to. Romo really only throws to Owens and Witten for the most part with a few to Crayton but he doesn't utilize the RBs as much as Aikman did.
