Dang man, that was fast. .

Was deciding on which series to watch...Ozark on netflix or West world on HBO.
Watched on episode each. Finished Ozark soon after, have not watched another episode of West World.

Seems like everyone like west world who watched it...however that first episode just did not click with me. Probably should give it more of a chance.

It takes WW's plot a few episodes to develop, gets better as it goes on. the acting is great too.

It took me three first episode viewings of Boardwalk Empire before I liked it, then I waatched the whole series in a week or so and adored it. Keep giving it a chance, you'll like it. It's not nearly as hard a plot to understand as others make it out to be, either.

Just keep trying and it'll click. Really good series. Did you watch The Wailing, Hunka Hunka?

Yes I watched the Wailing.

Was a little let down with that one.

Although I enjoyed some of the humor in it...the acting was a little too over the top in many areas.

I think they also let it run a little too long.

Could have been better if it was streamlined down a little.

Not terrible...just did not live up to they hype for me.

I think I built it up too much in my mind.

Which is not fair to it.

I was hoping it would be another Old Boy or I Saw the devil but it was just not as good.

I'll have to check those two out.

I didn't like Under the Shadow (subtitled; don't do dubbings) the way everyone else did, myself. Babadook wannabe.

Holy Smokes if you have not seen the original Old Boy (not the american version) or I saw the Devil....well you are in for a treat.

Don't want to build them up too much because movies are hard to live up to the hype but both of those are really killer movies.

You can find Old Boy on Netflix. I saw the devil, you might have to rent somewhere.

Old boy is part of a Vengeance Trilogy although each movie stands out on it's own and are not really connected. Old Boy is easily the best of the three IMO with the other two being Lady Vengeance and Sympathy for Mr Vengeance...with the last being the least IMO.

Oldboy is kind of slow to start off with but really starts going and has such a twisted twist in it. Has some good fight scenes...one is known as the hallway fight scene and it is one of the better fight scenes filmed...reminds me of The Raid Redemption fight scenes.

I saw the Devil has one of the guys who plays the main person in OldBoy. He is a crazy killer and another guy is after him after the killer kills his wife. Pretty good stuff. Just harder to find free.

Are these thriller or action movies? I'm not big on action movies, BP.

I adore thrillers, however.

More action than thriller.

Basic premise...

Old Boy - Guy gets abducted and is thrown into a hotel room that is basically a prison for him. Locked in it for YEARS. He is let out but is told that he has so long to find out who put him in there for years and why but if he does not find out his girl he has not seen in years will be killed. He goes on from there to find out why and there is a twist in it that throws you for a loop, even if you figure it out it is still twisted. As I noted...great fight scene in it.

I saw the Devil - A guy that was a cop or Korean version of FBI has his wife killed by a serial killer. He goes on the hunt for the serial killer but he just does not go to kill him or imprison him...he is going to do some punishment. This is considered both a action and psychological thriller.

Neither are ghost or paranormal movies.

However if you like some good Korean films...these two are almost always on the top of the best Korean Movies list you will find.

If you want something a little more twisted...Cold Fish might be for you ...gory and weird.

You might also like Suicide Club - Groups of kids start committing suicide and nobody knows why so a detective goes on the mission to try and figure it out.

For a horror type twisted movie...check out Audition...a few scenes in it that are really twisted.

LOL...went through a spell where I would watch all the crazy foreign action or horror movies I could find free on youtube...however most of those would only be up for a few days before they were taken down.
Sometimes you find some hidden gems, other times ones that won a lot of awards (like I saw the devil) and of course a bunch of stinkers out there as well.

The following ones are not foreign...at least they are in english and most have not heard of them.

Another horror/thriller one you might like is "The Woman" ...guy finds and captures a wild woman that was living in the woods.

Also another one that is not bad but a little slow and warped is Deadgirl. Two teen boys find a living dead girl (no not the rob zombie song) in a hidden abandoned bunker or asylum.

Pretty much anything by Guillermo del Toro (some of these are foreign some are not)...
Pan;s Labrynith
Devil's Backbone
Don't be afraid of the Dark

I go on crazy foreign film binges, myself, but I almost exclusively target dramas. I will check these out and see if they interest me. Thank you, good sir. :)

Oh Battle Royale is another you might like. I think it is still on netflix.

Whoever wrote and later made the Hunger Games really basically ripped off the Battle Royale book and movie. Sure they are different but after watching battle royale you see where the basic plot idea came from.

I'm working my way through it. I'm at the part where the daughter went for a swim when it was too cold. It doesn't have the edge of Breaking Bad, but it's all right.

My wife and I finished watching season one last night. Really, really, really like the show. never watched breaking bad so I cant relate to that one. Batemen is great in his role and Laura Linney is one of my favorite actresses. The ending last night was not what I was expecting. Poor Marty Byrde just wants to help his family but he keeps running up against people who are just ruthless. The first and last episode were no doubt the best one. My wife kept screaming that if the preacher kills the baby she is not watching anymore. That was a surprise twist and a little too far fetched. I did not understand the daughter swimming episode when she went past the market and then floated to the bottom. Was she just trying to kill herself? They did not resolve that in my mind. and the next couple of episodes were flashbacks.

The FBI agent is one messed up dude. Get him in professional counselling.

Still just a great series to get into.

The ending was actually pretty surprising, so kudos to them.

Wife and I binged it and are excited for season two.
