Randy --but Juke is a close second:)

Actually depends on how you look at it --I would say Chet Atkins

Randy Rhoads, Jake E. Lee, Zakk Wylde or Gus G?
I know it's sacrilege to say anyone but Randy, but Zakk is my favorite of the 4. I think he does an amazing job of covering the classics from Jake and Randy, and still puts his twist on them. And he's written some of Ozzy's best songs, including No More Tears, I Don't Wanna Stop, Momma I'm Coming Home, and my favorite
See you on the Other Side

Cool side note to this song....it was written by Ozzy, Zakk & Lemmy.

You left out Brad Gillis... but I'll still take Randy... all are incredibly talented.

Being lead axe for Ozzy is akin to being the drummer for Spinal Tap... ;)

Good call on Brad Gillis, though I think Brad just did a cover album for Ozzy.....all covers of Sabbath tunes. I guess I was asking about their original material with Ozzy.

It really is not. So true. Not even close.

I was there for Randy, and I would love to have heard what he would've come up with had his life not been cut short. I would also have loved to hear his take on the songs that Ozzy wrote with Zakk and Jake. Would've been cool. Here's two great jobs by Zakk covering Randy and Jake:

I started studying Randy and his compositions back in the mid 80's. Got real fanatical about it. A true, great composer. (got back into heave over the last two years)

I did feel like he was running out of material though. That and the fact that he wanted to get out of playing "rock and roll". He wanted to go classical hard core.

CD - Ozzy best songs ARE NOT: No More Tears, I Don't Wanna Stop, Momma I'm Coming Home, and my favorite
See you on the Other Side

Ozzy best songs are Crazy Train, Mr. Crowley I dont know, Over the Mountain, Diary, Cant kill Rock and Roll... etc..

I think we got his best in the quality of the two albums. Not the quantity had he lived.

Can I cheat & say Tony Iommi.

And for what it's worth, Iommi > Rhoads

While Sabbath had some really nice signature guitar sounds. Uh, no.

(oh wait, you are "across the pond" - I understand ;) )
