My first thread post.. so be gentle if I stuff up.. lol

Here is some stuff Packers fans are saying about the game...
--------------------------------------------------------
Hopefully a good get-right game for us. The Cowboys have a decent running game, but if we can keep that contained...their defense is SHOCKING.
Second-worst in the league behind only Miami. They have allowed 92 points in three games - 4th most in franchise history. Opponents are averaging 288 pass yards per game and overall allowing 6.5 yards *per play*. They've given up 5 TD passes of 25+ yards - through three games, they have allowed the most completions and/or pass TDs of 25+ yards in 45 years.

Against the Bears, they did not manage a single sack and were credited with only one pressure on defense. Overall they have averaged one sack per game, and opposing offenses are converting 54% of 3rd downs.

And of course, the Cowboys DC is Matt Eberflus, who...suffice to say we are familiar with.

Our defense has been lights out, but IMO we've yet to put together a total dominant showing on offense, I'm hoping this is our chance. Any given Sunday and all that but let's hope for some fireworks.
-------------------------------------------------------
I think the Packers are going to destroy the Cowboys. Very lopsided game.
38-24, but with Dak racking up some garbage time yards and points.
------------------------------------------------------
They are really beat up. CeeDee Lamb is out with a high ankle sprain.
As long as we don't screw up like we did in Cleveland we should win this one.
------------------------------------------------------
One place the Boys are strong is in the FG department. Aubrey is usually lights out especially indoors. He could be the player of the game. If our D does give them trouble their goal will be to win the field position battle. Cross midfield and let Aubrey launch one.
-------------------------------------------------------
Nonetheless, if GB does not angrily trash Dallas on Sunday in a big way, I'm going to be disappointed.
-------------------------------------------------------
And of course, the Cowboys DC is Matt Eberflus..Good lord, Jerruh... what on Earth were you thinking???
-------------------------------------------------------
Poor Dallas fans... they're probably feeling the same way about their team right now as we were all feeling in the late 70s and Awful 80s. Is there any sort of 25th Amendment or impeachment clause in the NFL by-laws?
-------------------------------------------------------
No CeeDee Lamb for the Cowboys. Two offensive line starters to miss the game for them also. A poor defense. A Packer team coming off an unexpected loss.
This ought to add up to a Packer victory, maybe even in convincing fashion.
------------------------------------------------------
Their defense has been giving up a lot of points, and I'm sure they have enough pride (and prodding from Jerrah) to want to show the world they don't suck without Micah.
That said, GB has not lost in Jerryworld, and they absolutely should have hot piss after the Lake Erie fiasco. This feels like it will be close for about a half and then GB pulls away.
Unlike CLE, I don't know what DAL does well that they can hang their hat on.
-----------------------------------------------------
The Packers should be pissed at their performance in Clevland. They need to take it out on Dallas. The Bears pounded them, so no excuse for the Packers to not flatten them.
----------------------------------------------------
If any good comes out of Sunday’s humiliating disaster, it is a convincing win against the hated cowboys.
If Love doesn’t want to get labeled as the new Dak he better get his **** in gear.
----------------------------------------------------
Lamb out, Parsons returns to D-town, Cowboys secondary allowing about of yards. Packers continue to be America’s real team.

Our Owner has made us the laughing stock of America. He is so delusional its pathetic us Old Timers all we can do is just shake our heads and see who out lasts who. The sad part his son is not much better.

...and hope that old VCR won't break down anytime soon so we can still rewatch our tapes from the 90s.

(Yes I know by oldtimers I guess you meant the 70s, but did they even have vcrs back then? And I'm also feeling like an old-timer lol).

Which reminds me, I really have to digitalize my tapes once and for all. The way it looks I'll never witness something like the 90s again as a Cowboys fan. And I probably have around 40 more years on this earth. Thanks Jerry and son.

Pretty bad when they are only scared of our FG kicker. I get it he’s the best in the league but if the word from opposing fans is they’re good in the FG department and struggling everywhere else, well that’s a problem.

I am a little shocked their fans are not worried about our solid culture going into this game.

lol…. I got a box of VHS tapes sitting around here somewhere too, with the big games from the 90’s Cowboys. Not even sure if they work anymore or the quality.

First, in the early 70s, there was the 8mm and 16mm film reels, playing them on home movie projectors. Then came the Sony Betamax (which was a cassette format) which was a major competitor to VHS, released in 1975. While it had some advantages, it ultimately lost the "format war" to VHS due to factors like lower cost and longer recording times.

Other formats, like the U-Matic and other early cassette-based systems such as Cartrivision and Betamax, were available for home video recording but were expensive and less popular than VHS.

JVC's VHS format, released in 1976, became popular because it offered longer recording times and was more affordable for consumers. VHS also benefited from the development of the home video rental market, which was a significant factor in its market dominance. VHS dominated for exactly 20 years until the introduction of the DVD player in Japan in 1996 and the USA in 1997. The rest is history.

That’s good stuff, I remember the debates as a kid, what was better VHS or Betamax? My mom bought a Betamax recorder first and eventually switched to VHS.

I remember walking around malls in the late 70’s or early 80’s being in awe of those big projection TVs wishing I had one to replace our 19” Prior to the VHS explosion, there was Laser disk movies about the size of music vinyl albums, but they didn’t last long.

Dude YouTube is your best friend on this one. I found pretty much every game from 92-95, full game broadcasts. It’s pretty cool. We super dominate back then. Man I miss those days.

Yes, I also wanted one of those big projection TVs over a much smaller tv. A 55"+ screen always beat out a lousy 19" - 24" tv!!! But our cheapskate parents always sided with saving money over pleasing our viewing fantasies.

:muttley:

Funny we are talking about such old school video tape recordings, because I still have an old school 1998 70" first Pioneer DLP cathode-ray tube rear-projection big screen TV in storage that still works pretty good. Last time I used it was back in 2014, but I've covered it up well and placed it in storage since. I took it out 2 years ago, plugged it in and realized it still works well. Several of my cousins offered to buy it from me for their game room, but I'm going to keep it in case I make it past this cancer and build myself my own game room Cowboys-themed man cave.

:lmao:

What's funny is I read a quote that parsons made in the news recently (go figure LOL) and it had my curiosity peaked on what the Packer fans thought of Parsons. Long story short, the majority of their fans agree that he isn't producing big defensive numbers in the short time there, but that he has been very effective in their defense because he's tying up at least a couple of offensive players on him that is allowing the other guys on the defense to have better numbers than they usually have. That made me look. Only 3 games in, but Green Bay's defense is ranked #3 and has allowed the lowest amount of points scored so far.

When I see what Jones has done for the Colts so far this year (with a great rookie tight end), I just can't help but think that if we cut our losses with Dak after the playoff loss a couple of years ago and freed up some major money, the cowboys could be looking a whole lot better at this point (added with that freed up money Henry would have been a no brainer to bring in last year). That said, I'm using the premise that the cowboys front office actually use some common sense and cut players when they need to be cut, and pay players when they need to be paid.

I did find the below quote somewhat amusing...

"As an aside...my in-laws are largely Dallas fans. I can't tell you how many times I heard them complaining about Parsons getting held all the time and never getting the calls...I always assumed it was just them being whiney and finding excuses or whatnot. Now, after watching him play for us a couple games...they might have been right."

Had to reread this again, thought I wrote this!

Welcome aboard.
I hope the packer players are as overconfident as their fans. Not that it will really matter in the outcome of the game, but it might make it a little less painful LOL
