Hell, the year they won the super bowl with Rodgers, if I remember correctly, they had the most people on IR out of all 32 teams. Rodgers can be the great equalizer. To be fair though… that Rodgers and this year’s Rodgers are not even playing close to the same.
Plus, that 2010 GB team had McCarthy, and as we are seeing, his teams tend to play well even with starters missing. Philbin was the GB offensive coordinator that season, but he still had a ton of input on that offensive line. And as we’ve seen, he does a hell of a job of replacing starting OL and having them play well.
We were used to Tyron Smith going out and the whole line falling apart. That doesn’t happen with Philbin, even with multiple starters out/leaving and new guys coming in.
My point is that we know McCarthy and his staff can keep a team competitive with a lot of starters hurt… but that has yet to be proven with Green Bay’s current coaching staff.
Still, like you’re saying, they should not be taken lightly, especially playing at Lambeau. Luckily, I don’t think there is any way in hell that Dallas is going to overlook GB. Not at Lambeau with it being McCarthy’s first game back… and not with the way GB has tended to beat Dallas in big games.
I think Dallas shows up ready to go.
