Even though we went undefeated in the NFCE Do you know if/ when we have gone undefeated in the entire NFC? Thanks...:starspin

I would say we've probably never been undefeated in the NFC since the merger...two losses is the fewest we've ever had (1977) and we lost to the St Louis Cardinals that yr...the yr we wer 13-3 we lost to the Rams and Commanders...from 1970-78 only two-threew interconference games were played

looking at the Heisman winners period: Only Mike Garrett, Marcus Allen, TD, Eddie Geroge and Desmond Howard have been on SB winning teams.
7 our of 45 or so that could have been in a SB.

then we promtply lost at home in embarrassing fashion to an Arizona team that we scored 73 pts on in two previous wins...afterward Cardinal players totally bashed Gailey and said we ran almost the exact same plays, from the same formations and in the same down/distance combinations as the two games we played them before...said Gailey made no adjustments to what they were showing on defense early in the game

Dallas can't take that chance because the opponents the Cowboys face are division opponents, except Carolina, and are much more riskier games.

Cowboys Have to Beat the Panthers and Skins or They Will Not be in the Super Bowl
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I was reading the Greatest Team Ever and an interesting stat/historical footnote was quoted in the book that I forgot.
No Cowboys Team has gone to the Super Bowl losing the last Game of the Season. This stat referred to how the Cowboys slipped losing 2 of their last 3 games including the last game of the season lost to the Giants in 1994. That team had the San Fransisco 7:27 Earth Quake (21 SF points in 7 minutes 27 seconds). All eight Cowboy Super Bowl Teams won the Last Game of the season.
But the momentum streak is actually the last 2 games of the season. No Dallas Cowboys Team has gone to the Super Bowl without winning the last 2 games of the season. Momentum is so important in football.
The Bad news: if we win against Philly and the Panthers, there is nothing technically to play for...no NFC East, Home-field, Best Record, nothing to put your starters on the field to risk injury. So do we actually tank the Skins game. If the Cowboys lose the Philly game they would have to win out their last two games if Greenbay win out theirs for the home-field throughout tie breaker.
Well the stats say play the last two games of the season like your trying to go to the Super Bowl.
The Good news: No Cowboys team has been 12-1 at this point. The Cowboys have had history of breaking stats/historical footnotes IE. No Heisman Trophy winning QB had won a Super Bowl until Rodger Staubach, No NFL Rushing champion had won a Super Bowl until Emmitt Smith, No team had started 0-2 and won a Super Bowl until the 1993 Cowboys, No College Coach that won a National College Championship won a Super Bowl until Jimmy Johnson (that 90's team even gave Barry Switzer college and pro rings), and No Cowboys team had been trailing at halftime and came back to win a Super Bowl until the 1993 Cowboys.
So do you go against the stats to put an end to the footnote or keep the streak alive finishing 15-1. I think we better keep this 2007 Cowboys Team just like the Son of a Bum said focus on being 13-1, then 14-1, then 15-1. If anything, Just for luck.
