During pre-season there was alot of hype on this board about how great the Packers O-line was and how we need to draft like them.

3 games - 12 sacks given up.

How is that great.

Dallas has given up 3 sacks and averages 193 yards rushing.

Now I'm not saying we can draft O-line, because we can't at all, but to many folks look at other teams and say how great they are. This is the NFL, there are no great teams, just good ones. Everyone can be beat on any given Sunday.

if im not mistaken when you throw as much as the packers do, your going to get sacks;

and best i remember their running game isnt all that great this year

They have terrible HB depth going back the last few years. Ryan Grant is currently their best guy and he is very average. Last year their backup HB was a guy they pulled off Pittsburgh's practice squad. They desperately need a HB...Ahman Green was the last guy they had that could carry the load.

Any of our three guys would start there.

They also have a couple new starters on O-Line...That Barbre character is getting blown up all the time right now, he's the main weak link on their O-line.

I think they were great in preseason because defenses were playing them light.

I think this will be true all season long of the Packers: They are weak against the blitz.

The Packers o-lineman for the most part are inexperienced. It's going to take them time to gel. It doesn't happen quickly-- and who knows maybe they will not.

At some point you have to cut the "deadwood" and go with younger players, but you're going to get bumps in road too. It'll happen when whoever replaces Flozell.

They had a Steve Spurrier type preseason and everyone got on that waggon.

I'll admit that I was one who thought they would be better than they have been - but I still do.

Barbre has struggled at RT and then they lost Clifton at LT for several weeks.

Anyone think we'd survive losing Adams and Colombo?

They're trying to play Daryn Colledge at LT and he's getting eaten alive.

Odom from Cincinnati got 5 sacks the other day.

They also traded away Tony Moll and lost Jamon Meredith from their practice squad.

They'll struggle for a while, especially until Clifton gets back, but I think they'll improve.

I know Chad Clifton got hurt against the Bengals, and Odom got 5 sacks in that game. I don't think he played Sunday.

That might be what happened.

yep packers are struggling with injuries like we were when kosier went down and flozell had to play hurt when we didnt have a capable backup OT.

In that Bengal game when Clifton was playing i think he gave up 2 or 3 of those five sacks to Odom before he got injured.

The Packers were just the latest preseason darling team. We see it every year when the media all jump on the bandwagon of a team they think will make a big leap, even when there's no good reason for it.

Remember when Mike McCarthy was a COY candidate a couple of years ago when they were 13-3?

Yeah. He rules.

Mike McCarthy is the Wade Phillips of the Packers. Ted Thompson runs the show.

Some of it is that Aaron Rodgers has taken some unneccesary sacks.

Barbre is just brutal at RT.

Ogunlye ate him alive (2 sacks and sevral pressures) and then Odam ate his lunch.

With Clifton out, they're in trouble because they can't use the TE to help out on both sides.

actually the Packers handle the blitz quite well, it is the four man pressure that they are having problem with. Go figure!! Every time the Rams would blitz, the line would pick it up and Rodgers would throw a bomb to Jennings or Driver. I do think they will get better. The past couple of years they have really started slow on the line and gotten better.

Rodgers has held onto the ball a little longer in the pocket and that has also caused a few of those sacks. he has not thrown an interception but getting 2nd and 18 quite few times does not help the offense.

Grant is not the answer at tailback. He just does not have any speed and ability to cut back and with the line blocking like it is, it does not help. Aaron is going to have to throw for 5000 yards this year and the defense is going to have to keep getting turnovers.

Their offensive line coach is starting to catch some heat and may feel the wrath at the end of the year. They need Clifton back like crazy. College is not a tackle. Ted Thompson screwed up by not having a veteran behind Barbre or Clifton.

Hopefully Favre is jacked up next Monday and throws a bunch of picks. AP is a stud and he can carry that team. The Packers are better than anybody the Vikings have played so far and they have not exactly looked like world beaters against three offensively challenged football teams in the Browns, Lions and 49ers.

Yeah, you can't have that many sacks...you just can't

Lately i've been wondering why that D ain't quite as good as it should be.

Kamp and Jenkins and Hawk and Barnett and Poppinga and Woodson and Collins and Harris and Bigby and then just added Matthews and Raji...I just don't quite get it...I know they just hit up the old 34, but to me last season they were far and away the most underachieving defense, I thought Rodgers would ride them, but he earned every win he got. It is a talented bunch, if they can ever figure it out up there.
