Packers re-sign DE Preston Smith

So they were like 40 over the cap yes?

Sign Rodgers for 50m, tag Adams at 20m, then keep a key defensive FA.

Got it.
Adams is currently refusing the tag, so if they want him then they might be a lot more over the cap lol

But Gregory spent over half his career suspended.
I still prefer to move on, that is too much IMO.
Yeah but weed is all fine now.

It does seem to make you not understand exactly where the LOS is but that's a different debate lol.

I'd be fine moving on from him if we were moving on from everyone that's similar as part of a bigger, two year plan to get cap issues behind us for 23, but that isn't what's happening.

Gregory has been a disappointment yes, but on a given play lining up (provided its onside) the guy has rush skills.

If he can miraculously be on the field for 17 games he would earn his money.

They could have had Cooper then. And only for a 5th round pick. :muttley:
One less pick for GB to choose a QB to made drama queen mad. :lmao2:

I still remember when a lot on this sub was 100% convince Gregory was going to be an All-Pro last season:lmao::lmao::lmao:

The laws of salary cap is different for GB and other select teams than what the laws of salary cap is for Stephen. Or maybe he just failed those classes.
Jokes aside, GB knows they are going to have to completely punt on a season or two down the road to make this work....and it'll be well worth the chance.

We don't see it that way. We never want to not at least appear to be competitive.

Going on record as wanting him back.....but giving him a ton of guaranteed money would be a mistake....and I'm sure the agent understands this and will make that happen.

Write him a bonus check for 10m plus and I wouldn't expect to see much of him this season.

He has never had that kind of money at once.

Yep,
If this doesn't debunk that the cap can be manipulated in order to improve your team, I really don't know what to say.

Just like when the Cowboys seem to find cap flexibility when it comes to giving out second contracts to their own, the Packers look like they like their guys too.

Although I am aware Smith was not originally home grown.

A team cap is restricted as far as a team is willing to stretch it.

No more. No less.

Your turn Jer. I am sure Jerry is negotiating with Gregory's agent right now to top this.

This is why the cap is a joke.

Packers started the offseason -$40 million.

Re-signed Rodgers for $200 million, signed Smith for $50+ million, tagged Adams for $20+ million
