Rather than take the chance that Collins reinjures his neck, the Packers have released their pro bowl safety. Sucks but the Packers have a history of being cautious with this type of injury. I know that McCarthy and Thompson have said they would not want their son playing after that injury and now they back up what they said by releasing him. Packers need for a safety just went way up to go along with an OLB and DE.

Sad. He is a beast, but that injury to neck is concerning to anyone interested in picking him up, as well as his future beyond football.

He was a very good player -- typically one of the top 2-3 safeties in the NFC over the past 3-4 years.

Always a shame to see a player (good or otherwise) go out with a career ending injury like that while they are still in their prime.

he might make a miraculous recovery, if not: nothing lost.....
