Cowboys serious about Pacman?

Pacman Jones | Titans | Interested: Cowboys?
While the Dallas Cowboys aren't publicly making any statements, the team is seriously considering making a trade for troubled cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones, the Star-Telegram reported.
According to the newspaper, although Jones has yet to be reinstated, that won't prevent the Titans from trading him. Jones has been told a decision on his reinstatement should come prior to the start of training camps.
Sources say the Cowboys could offer a second day pick, possibly a fourth-round selection to acquire Jones. Jones has expressed his desire to play for the Cowboys, but the former first round pick hasn't seen game action in over a year.

Wakka wakka, *****es. :D

I dont either.

We can also give him a high tender as well right?

I just dont see the worry in losing him.

No. I think the tenders are only for restricted free agents. Newman will be unrestricted, but in any case like i said a 4 year deal for about 42 mil and 17 mil guaranteed or something around that area.

I think a deal for Pacman will get done this afternoon sometime.

The math doesn't add up here. One, we can't count on Pacman, and if we trade a 5th round pick and lowball his contract, you can essentially count on him as much as you can a true 5th round pick with a tiny contract. In other words, you don't pass on drafting a need in the 1st round because you plan on filling it in the 5th. We've got multiple corner spots to fill and we may lose both of our starters in the next couple of years (Henry for sure is gone once his contract is up).

Getting Pacman is a low risk/high reward scenario and that's it. Jerry sees an opportunity to pay very little to chance a high reward. He wouldn't "count on Pacman" if he knows what's good for him. If Pacman turns out, great. If not, we'll be prepared.

Completely agree.

And I don't know whay this is so difficult for some to figure out.

Just look at the current NFL landscape!

DeAngelo Hall just got $70 million with $24 million guaranteed!

And the Raiders gave up what? The 35th overall pick for the privilege to do that?

Pacman Jones has Pro Bowl ability as both a cornerback and return man - two of the Cowboys' biggest needs.

But hopefully Jerry Jones won't fall into the trap that some fans have that Adam Jones will be his 'problem solver' and someone to depend on. He has to go a long way to prove that.

But what he can be is a low risk gamble with home run potential. The Cowboys need to insure themselves by sticking with their game plan and drafting a cornerback in the first round just in case.

In today's NFL, can a team ever have too many good cornerbacks?

Wait, so Parcells is interested too?? Haaaa!!!!
He has our old head pro scout. It seems both teams (Dallas and Miami) are consistently linked to the same pro players. No surprise.

What you say seems the obvious to me, I don't know why it's so difficult for some to grasp.

I wish people would understand the reason PacMan would possibly be traded is due to his multiple off the field (serious) problems.

If PacMan didn't have those issues surrounding him, the Titans would not be willing to trade him. And even if they did, it would be for a much, much higher pick.

If the price is right, I'm not against getting PacMan, but he hasn't done anything where the Cowboys can TRUST him yet. He has to earn it. And the problem is that the margin of error is 0. One more screw up, and he's out of the league for good.

We're basically helping to stack our team with DB talent, using a late round pick on a guy with first round talent and character issues. It's low-risk, high-reward.

And Jerry Jones is a buy-low kinda guy.

I am very excited about the possiblity of Pac-Man coming to Dallas. You can just write off teams contuing to throw those 12 yard comebacks to the sideline, because with henry and Jones on the outside and Newman in the slot, eventually Henry or Jones is gonna pick that off and house it. That's to say nothing of the players we're about to draft.

The Madden possibilities are quite thrilling, as well.

If we trade for Pacman and he gets so much as a speeding ticket, he's missing games. Anyone who'd rely on that would beyond stupid. And trading up for McFadden based on getting Pacman means you're relying on Pacman.

And hes definetely dumb enough to do it and any time he gets in trouble after that he will be known as a former Cowboy. Not a Titan.

Notice there isn't anything in there about him being reinstated, just that some kind of decision was being made before training camp.

You wanna see a melt down? Let us trade for Pacman and then watch his suspension last another year. Wowza!!!

The trade would almost certainly be conditional on him being re-instated.

Or is Jerry just looking for a good excuse to overspend for McFadden?

If We get Pacman this team doesn't have very many holes at all.

100% agreed. JJ isn't going to take a risk without any hedge.

And I'd guess it would even be a 2009 conditional draft pick. It doesn't look like PacMan will be reinstated before the draft (at least it doesn't appear so right now).

I could see that happening, but think it would be very stupid.

We've got an opportunity to start living like it's 1993, and our backups would be starters elsewhere. No use screwing that up to get McFadden when baby Emmitt is just sitting in New Jersey waiting to be reincarnated.

If you can add Adam Jones as the third cornerback to what the Cowboys already have on defense?

That's not just good, that's sick!

Zach Thomas steps in for Ayodele as well?

It's almost overkill if you ask me.

Add in what Jones would bring over 'Fair Catch' Crayton as a punt returner and it's something to get really excited about.

But under no circumstances do you consider 'problem solved' by adding a guy who's one misstep away from being gone forever.

And when you have not one, but two first round picks to do it, you'd have to be a fool not to.

And I don't think Jerry Jones is 'foolish' enough to do that.
