Pacman Jones was in the Metroplex Monday afternoon working out.

Only it was not with the current Dallas Cowboys. The suspended cornerback was part Deion Sanders' "Prime U" workout at SMU.

Jones has still not been reinstated by the NFL or cleared to work out with the team. He would not comment on any communication with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell or give any hint at reinstatement.

"Hopefully really soon," Jones told the NFL Network. "I'd like to be in practice Tuesday but we'll see how it goes. I'm just being patient and humble and waiting for my chance because when I come back out there, there won't be no more coming off. "

Pacman did talk about Jerry Jones hopes to have him play a little offense. Pacman said he played about 15 plays on offense with Tennessee and will do whatever the Cowboys need him to do.

I like that he's saying all the right things too, but actions speak louder. We'll see if he's sincere if/when he is reinstated.

His use of the word is a lot better than Aikman's at his HOF induction.

Goodell made it very clear Pacman being reinstated wasn't going to be considered until right before training camp begins. That is still two months away.

Unfortunately, the excitment I had when he took over for Tags has completely faded now.

Hard to imagine that happened in only two years.

To be honest, there is absolutely no reason for him to wait this long to make a decision. All he is doing is trying to wait and see if he screws up again. He's been clean for over a year now. Time to let the man make a living and get his life back on track.

Its great everyone embracing and including Pacman. Its also nice to see him participating when he can. Feeling like part of the team will help build a bond and a sense of responsibility that could keep his priorities in the right order.

I hope.

Pacman works out with Deion

Albert Breer E-mail News tips

New Cowboys CB Pacman Jones was part Deion Sanders' informal "Prime U" workout at SMU this afternoon, and granted the NFL Network an interview, which is up on the league's official Web site.

As he said to Cowboys Blog last week at Jason Witten's bowling event, he's hoping to get out to OTAs ASAP. Jones mentioned to me he hoped to be out there last Tuesday. Now, of course, he said wants to be out here this Tuesday. And I figure he'll want to be out there every Tuesday, until he's actually reinstated.

"When I get back out there, there ain't no more coming out," Jones said, emphasizing that he that once he reinstated, he plans to stay in the league's good graces. He wouldn't go into any discussions with Roger Goodell, simply saying, "I think I should be alright."

Here's more of what he said to the Network ...

On playing offense: "The sky's the limit. I played a little offense, about 15 plays were scripted for me in Tennessee. I'm just happy to be here, whatever I can do to help my team win, I'm willing to do."

On the unpaid markers in Vegas: "It was just a miscommunication with the people that pay my bills. It got paid that morning. It was misunderstanding, I guess."

On his relationship with Deion: "I've known Deion since college. I've always respected him and look up to him as an idol. I haven't had too many people I've looked up to like him, so he's been a big inspiration in my life. When I had my downtime for a year, he was one of the guys that would call me every other week to make sure that my spirit's OK and I was doing alright."

On how Deion's helped: "A lot emotionally and mentally, he's played a great part. This year has been one of the hardest years of my life, besides when my dad died. It also was a learning experience. I made a lot of bad decisions and I thank God I'm getting a second chance. But the past is the past and I'm ready to move on."

On why he looks up to Deion: "He's the best at what he does. You can learn from somebody who came from the situation you were in, from the inner city, first one to go to college out of your family and who wants to be the best. Everybody in my family, or anyone that knows me, knows I want to be the best at what I do."

I see no reason to take the pressure of Adam Jones until training camp. Why not let him dangle? It's in Jone's best interest, whether he knows it or not. The longer the league waits in theory, the more time he's got to think about how close he is to losing everything. It's insurance for the team, and it offers a measure of insurance for the NFL b/c Goodell runs no risk of looking like a chump if he reinstates him and Jones gets caught on a pole someplace later that night celebrating.
