It's been a long wait, can't wait to hear the leather popping this afternoon. I hope the NFL network brings out the good microphones. Oh, and before any of you smart ones say anything, i know pads aren't made out of leather anymore. Just a figure of speech. Salud!

And Jaylon Smith is participating!

Crazy to me to see so many people still doubting he will be available week one. Barring another injury, he will be there. I would like to see an example of an active player in training camp participating in contact drills being too injured to not play.

Yes, Smith is supposed to have pads on, but how much will they have him really do. will he have the pads on but doing sideline work. Or will he be involved with the actual practice. will there be hitting, I doubt it.

From what little I heard yesterday, they will have the pads on, but it will still be a glorified mini camp type practice.
Offense will be with offense, defense with defense. Drill type things only, not going against each other.

I believe this is part of the CBA, not a team decision. As the 1st 3 practices are limited. The 4th practice is when they go against each other, but probably no real tackling, or it is like 3/4 speed.

Even with the pads on there may be no hitting, I think it is part of the CBA. I think they will still have individual team drills...offense, defense, but not against each other.

But if any player has the urge to hit anyone...hit a media member named Dale Hanson...what an arse......

I'm so excited to see Jaylon on the field. I'm looking forward to him turning this defense around! His attitude and heart is just what we have needed.

the CBA is one of the reasons the play has gotten so sloppy the last few years; the limits on pads and hitting and on practices all together have had a decided effect on the quality of play.

With the first PS game being one week from tomorrow, they need to get to some contact pretty quickly. That'll start tomorrow, I assume. I just want to hear some reports of players against players rather than players "against air".
