Too late. The 3-4 defense was designed to stop the run. Essentially 3 DTs on the field because the DEs play inside shoulder of OT so usually big boys, no 3 techs need apply. The 2 inside backers are usually bigger MLB types who can thump and take on blocks. The problem is the 3-4 is not very good for pass rushing, which is why every 3-4 defense is always looking for its LT or Julius Peppers. If we were ever going to the 3-4, it would have been with Parsons rushing from OLB. Now we’d be looking for a nose, big strong DEs, a great edge pass rusher, an OLB for the strong side who can stand up to the run, and LBs. We currently have almost nothing needed to be a good 3-4 defense.

For reference, Marcus Spears was 6’4” and 315 as a rookie. He played DE for us.

The panthers defensive front 3 are all 320lbs or more. And there outside linebackers are probably bigger than our DE's lol.

The shut down our run game which has been pretty good.

Eberflus, Diggs etc ripped the heart out of this d. We have no desire left. They look lost, disinterested and undisciplined.

I will say this much. When we look around the league it seems like a issue all over as far as poor defense. Not too many teams play defense well.
