Jenkins would be a steal for a fourth round pick. He has made the Pro Bowl (except his rookie season) every year he wasnt hurt. Thats 3 out of 5 seasons. Sure he missed two season because of a shoulder and knee injury but he still has alot of juice left at age 27. With three years left on his contract, you can trade for him and see if he fits. If not cut him after one season with no cap hits. But if he turns out to be the player you thought then you have a very solid player for a few more years. You can still draft a third or fifth round NT to come in and compete but you have your rotation with Fergie and Jenkins. I think his salary is more than workable and he will could be the perfect fit in this scheme. Boy, I hope Jerry reads this message board and gets Jenkins!

Jenkins intrigues me- I would give a 3rd no doubt; more then that would take some thought.

Well, I don't believe that Jenkins is in a very good position, at all. You figure, he's coming off two sub-pare years. He has real issues with his shoulder. I honestly do not believe this man can play a full year as a 1 technique or NT. If he doesn't get traded, he's probably going to get cut. I doubt he gets 4.5 million from anybody. If he were to come to Dallas, he could effectively increase his value IMO. If he plays 10 to 15 strong snaps, he extends his career and probably lasts a whole season. There's also a chance that he ends up playing for a team that is in the hunt. If he gets traded, he has to play for whomever or hold out. If he holds out, that's two injured seasons and one hold out season. Nobody in the NFL is going to want to give up any contract for that. Carolina is on the hook for Gross, Smith and Peppers as it is. I see a guy who doesn't want to commit to off season workouts and a recent history of injury as a bit of a luxary. JMO

The question with Jenkins is he keeping fit on his own or is he sitting at home in front of the TV. NOW if he is working out on his own- just does not want much to do with any part of the Carolina orginization right now- that is another matter. ALso what weight is he at right now- if he is around 350 or so thats pretty good. IF he is near 400 that is a whole other story.
